What's your favorite lifting exercise for shoulders?

My favorite lifting exercise is 'clean and jerk' or push press. If I can get to a gym if a cage then I can do heavy partails from high positions in the rack. Go to www.exrx.net

I like to do a combo front/lateral raise. Take a pair of embarrassingly light weights, start with your palms down. Do a lateral raise and bring your hands together in front of you, then lower to the quads. Do a front raise, and return arms to lateral position. That's 1 rep. I seriously cannot do a set of these using anything more than 5 pounds.

I like these--I haven't done them in a long time! I'm going to do them in my class on Wednesday.

Holding on to the headboard...hey wait...I'm on the wrong board.

Here something I do. Standing perpendicular to a low pulley cable I grab the D-handle with the far arm, holding the elbow against the body rotate the lower arm away from the weights then lift up and out. Use light weight because the infraspinatus is a small muscle but important for shoulder stabilization.

That sounds really good.

That is correct. You can lean forward too. I try to do multiple movements with one position. It takes less time and hits muscles in different ways. Rememember go light. My wife made fun of me with the low weight 15Lbs until she tried it.

With dumbell you would need to lie on you side or lean over and rest on a bench or ball to save the lower back. It's better to do it on a cable setup.
