Ya never know Jean - I'm supposed to go see the doc anytime I have any sore throat, in case it's possibly strep. With a mitral valve prolapse, supposedly the little buggers can go wreak havoc in the heart.
Myabe you're just fighting it well, and at the end of the day when you're more tired it comes back? That is odd! Maybe try eating lots of really healthy hydrating food (with of garlic if you like - garlic is known to be a wide-spectrum antibiotic) and not tiring yourself out too much.
I have to do the antibiotics thing before the dentist. It's a pain with military ins.! I think a murmur is considered very mild, not as big a deal as a prolapse. Thankfully my prolapse is borderline between murmur and prolapse, so it's not a tremendous concern. *whew*
I think any way you eat is helpful, though raw may be the best. I don't know.. I usually cook it if I'm going to eat it, and have successfully fought off colds with it before.
And if you're laying low anyway... who cares if you smell like garlic?? :-)

I felt dryness in my throat on Monday or Tuesday.
