DD signed this out from the library today. I am a little concerned the content might be a bit mature for her but i let her sign it out.
What do you think?

I've never read it nor had heard of it. I looked it up on Amazon and while a tough content I would let my 8th grader (if I had one) read it. While we don't like to think of our kids as grown up, some 8th graders are doing drugs, drinking, smoking and having sex. So as long as its not painting drugs as glamorous and attractive, perhaps it will bring home to her more clearly the dangers of drugs that may start simply. I think our kids no alot more than we give them credit for (they are little sponges absorbing everything around them) so seeing the unvarnished truth might help keep them going in the right direction.

No, my child hasn't read it, but I read it when I was a kid. I may have been in high school. From what I remember, the themes are mature, and she goes into a lot of detail about getting high. I suggest you flip through it. I would say that this book strongly influenced me to stay away from drugs.
