Starting next Friday I will be volunteering at my dd's junior high with 2 other mothers. We "walk about" the campus during the three lunch periods. I'm sure I'll hear and see all kinds of things I don't wanta know about.

Now that I work outside of the home- i don't volunteer on campus. I do work for the teacher's at home and I am the PTO VP.....I actually miss being in the classroom.

I don't think I'd walk the grounds at lunch though.....middle schoolers are my least favorte aged kids. LOL! They are way too mouthy for me.

We have a police officer at the each of the Junior Highs and High Schools. The kids get to know him/her very well.

Oh yeah, I volunteer!!! I am the head librarian. I probably spend about 5-10 hours a week there! Our school survives on volunteers. In fact, they just implemented a program that requires you to volunteer a certain number of hours. We would not survive if it weren't for the volunteers! Everything from librarians, lunch moms, lots of fundraiser coordinators, to all the coaches of all the sports teams....all volunteer.

I haven't done anything there this year, but have signed up to help with the book fair that's coming up next month & etc.
Last year, I still did some volunteer work at my sons elementary school even though he was in middle school. The computer lab teacher asked me to come in & help her teach some mothers how to do some stuff for her on the computer. She is stretched. She always told me that she wished she could hire me as her assistant...which I would have loved!
My favorite ages are middle schoolers. I enjoy being around them better than elementary kids. They are too whiney. I enjoy high schoolers too. I guess that's why I taught middle school Sunday school for 2 years & high school Sunday school for 6.

I volunteer when I can. Working full-time its difficult. I try to go along on field trips, I'm on the Parent Council, I do try to help out. We are a very small school and we don't have a lot of parent voluneers who do things like supervise or office things. But I think in the younger grades they appreciate parents who can come in and help with crafts and the like.

Yes, I try and help out any way I can each year. I mostly volunteer as a classroom helper, chaperone, book fair helper or I get things prepared at home for an upcoming activity. When I was a sahm, I was a regular classroom helper for Matthew's kindergarten class. I was in charge of the computer lab...that was exhausting! Just doing that one activity made me realize I would never want to be in charge of an entire classroom all day. Our teachers work so hard!
