Just out of interest, how did you pick the names of your kids? Any stories or meanings behind the name, or was it just something you like?

For some reason I have a huge obsession with names... :)

To satisfy your obsession. LOL

Mine is very boring and uninspiring. We decided it was time to start discussing names. My ex said "For a girl I like Jennifer or Kristen". I said "I like Kristen too." End of story. LOL Not very dramatic huh? Took us all of 30 seconds to decide. Longer for the middle name. He wanted her to have my middle name which is Lee and I hated as a kid, but mostly it meant her initials would be KLM and I didn't want a child with initials that represented the Dutch Royal Airline. So after some debate we decided on Jean which was my grandmother's name and she raised me for 18 years, so a bit of an homage to her.

We were still wishy washy over a boys name so we were lucky she was a girl. The first first person we told her name was the nurse in the operating room (C-section) when she asked we knew right away it was Kristen.

My daughter, Laura, is named after my half-sister who died at age 13 from Asthma. My daughter's middle name is a combination of my husband's grandparents: Ascher and Lillian to make her middle name "Ashlyn".

Have fun!

I love stories about how people chose their kids' names.

Well, for us, girls names were easy.

Quinn's name came from 2 places. 1st...Bob Dylan wrote (& sang) a song called 'Mighty Quinn'. (Although, I like Manfred Manns Earth Band's version better) Also...we like Duke basketball. There was a player that we liked named Quin Snyder back in the late 80's. We just liked the way the name sounds. Unique, but not weird. His middle name is Walton. That was my husband's grandfathers name. Quinn absolutely hates his middle name & talks about getting it changed when he is older. (Like my brother did)

We made a short list of names; a couple of combinations of first and middle. Then, after he was born, we looked at him and decided which ones fit best. They were names of male ancestors on both sides.
