We have a rule at our house during the school year that the kids are not allowed to use the computer during the week unless it is school related. Just wondering if others have similar restrictions in place??

No restrictions here. As long as homework is completed she can pretty much go on when she wants. Of course we have to share so she's not the only one who gets on. She goes in fits when she uses it alot, then not that much. But I haven't found it necessary to make any rules at this point.

nope - computer time after homework is done. My dd is a huge sims2 fan. She would die if I took away her sims

I should add that my tween is so busy during the week. Tue/Thur. Soccer practice. Wed - youth group Sat. Soccer game - Sunday church

She doesn't have much time for the game.

My son was homeschooled last year and has returned to public school for 10th grade this year. He and his younger sister both do sports after school so they're both really too busy for it. To be honest though, sometimes he comes home from school so mentally drained that I'll give him an hour before he has dinner and homework to play and decompress. Makes the evening much nicer for all of us!

LOL No game systems here either. She had a Gameboy but someone stole it out of our car over a year ago. She thought she wanted to replace it but we sort of hemmed and hawed about it and now she has no interest. She plays those other games at some of the neighbors a bit, but she really doesn't have any interest and I refuse to buy one. In fact she came home ticked off one afternoon because all the kids went into one of the houses to watch a couple of kids play some video game. She thought that was so stupid, especially just to watch someone else play.

No. I allow Quinn to play Ruinscape for 30 minutes (more if it's a rainy day) a day in addition to doing any homework that may require the computer. Also, he adds songs (& etc.) to his IPod. He also checks his email, replies to any that he needs to & sends email. Usually he spends about 5 minutes doing that. Sometimes he will choose not to get on the computer at all because he & his friends have things going on.
BTW...I really don't have too worry too much about it because he had rather play outside.

No restrictions here. My kids aren't on the computer all that much. My oldest doesn't like to IM but will look at sports related things, shoes, and download songs for his IPOD on the computer. My younger son does some of that but not nearly as much.
As long as it doesn't become a problem, such as interfering with homework, I am fine with it and the PS2. Both my boys are very active-younger Ds spends lots of time playing outside on scooter/bike with friends and older DS runs XC with practices every day, and spends majority of his free time shooting baskets.

We also have rules for computer time. During the school year homework must be done first. Then I try to limit how long they are on. If it is a nice day I may let them on for an hour then I tell them to go outside and play. My dd lost all computer privledges due breaking the rules when she was IM ing. She may regain some privledges back due to schoolwork. We do monitor what websites they visit when they are on the internet also.
