Why is it when your child asks you to check their homework you then get the eye rolling and the attitude when you tell them it is not their best work?
DD 10 and in the fifth grade asked me to read over her writing assignment which was to write her opinion on 5 different things. I was honest and told her i didn't think it was done very well and it was obvious she rushed thru it just to get it done. First came the eye rolling followed by the crossed arms and then the tears. Next was the best when she says i worked hard on that and now you're telling me it's crap. I reply i didn't say it was crap it just isn't great. I then tell her if she is fine receiving a level 2 which is equivalent to a C then put it in her backpack and hand it in. Again i get the above mentioned attitude.
So now she is upstairs redoing it and if she asks me to read it i don't believe i will. It is a good thing DH is talking it over with her and reasoning things thru with her.

Oh yeah. Gotta love those. Look at this for me and then they don't want to hear what you have to say. After various huffs and puffs and me getting annoyed I just say "fine, if that's what you are handing in then hand it in, but you know its not great" and I try to let it go. LOL
Hi Kelly,
I get the samething from my ds.
She did ask me to read it again and i am very proud of myself b/c i did not point out every spelling mistake. She needs to learn to edit her own work, she is very good at getting others to do things for her.
I didn't know you were a teacher. What grade do you teach?
Kelly
Oh you have one of thsoe at your house too, ugh!!!!
I think you did it right!
