had a real bad scare here

Dalia(11) took our 90 lb lab for a walk this morning. She always takes him on a loop which is going up our street, choosing one of about 6 side streets to turn on and then coming back up another street and then back over to our street again. So, in theory, if you want to find her, you have to only go up our street and check the side streets and then down the other street. She took her cell phone and showed me before she left that she had it and on. About half an hour later, I called and she didn't answer, a first for her. I called and called and called over about 3 minutes thinking that she was trying to wrestle with the dog and get the phone from her pocket. Then I ran downstairs and told my dh what was going on. He jumped in the van and made the circuit around her normal walk area, checking all the side streets as he passed them. He couldn't find her. I was on the phone calling 9-1-1 and sobbing hysterically when my cell phone rang and it was her. She hadn't even heard her phone ring and somehow her dad had missed her on his circuit of the block. I'm not sure how that happened but it must have been a matter of timing. I was soo scared especially when Jorge told me to call 9-1-1. I often worry about stuff but he is usually calm. For him to tell me to call just brought home to me that it wasn't just me being an overprotective mom.

Karen, glad everything turned out ok despite the scare you had. I'm a worrier so I think I'd have reacted the same way!
