I don't typically do non-school mandated vaccines.

I'm tempted. I saw the add for it the other night and said to Kristen "You should have that" but I'm not sure. I'll likely talk to my Dr. (a woman with 2 girls about Kristen's age) and see what she says. The reason they recommend it so young is that once they start having sex it is sometimes too late as they've already been exposed to the virus. So by doing it young you can guarantee they've never had exposure. But I really haven't decided yet. I have a couple of years I think and its not free for us yet, so would be a considerable expense.

Hmm, if I had a daughter I would really consider the vaccines. Nothing is certain though, even vaccinations. I agree that I wouldn't want to be one of the first groups to receive it and I would definitely want a trusted doctor's opinion.

I just saw this commercial the other day. I don't know what I think. As of this second I can't imagine my dd EVER having sex, but is it wise for me to say, I don't believe in promiscuous behavior so I won't get you the vaccine? Do I give her the vaccine without really explaining what it is until she's older? None of us want to believe our girls will have sex with multiple possibly infected men, but we can't prevent it and this may be a little insurance policy. I'm against schools handing out condoms because I feel like it's giving permission. I wonder if this is exactly the same thing. At least it's me making the decision and not the school. My dd is 10 1/2 so I imagine the next checkup will be the time to make the decision.

I have 4 daughters. I think I will have Kiana get it when she is 14, and same with the twins..Not anytime before because of the whole 3 doses thing. I try to stay out of kaiser as much as possible. I only take kids when needed.

My first reaction is YES! My DD is only 9, so by the time she is within the age range there will more feedback about it.

Iwill be sure to our pediatrician about it at DD's 10 year exam in June.
