The book is called "Left to tell". It is not an easy read as it can be quite sad and horrifying but it is definitely a book that everyone should read.
It is about a woman called Immaculee Ilibagiza who survived the Rwandan Holocaust. She survives in part by her deep faith in God. I am not a religious person but I am envious of her deep belief system and how it helps her through the horror of the Holocaust.
If anyone else has read it please let me know. DD 13 and a friend of mine also loved "Left to tell."

I don't think so. It may something like they cut his arms off but it doesn't describe the actual act.

I will have to check this out for dd since summer reading program has started. It doesn't sound any worse then the Walter Deans Meyers books, which is a recommended author for her summer reading.
