Last night after we got home she took her bike and her and a friend went over to Rona. (Like Home Depot for those of you who don't have one.) They are planning/designing her friend's basement which will be her bedroom/private space. Well, they got there and needed to find chalkboard paint so they asked a worker where it was, then they asked about peel and stick tiles for the floor and even went and talked to someone about the price of plexiglass. Then they phoned me and told me they were going to Canadian Tire to compare prices and get more paint chips. I really never expected them to ask people for help. I thought they'd just go and get paint chips, wander around and come home, but they had a plan, they needed info and they went and got it. *sniff* I'm so proud. :-)

The employees probably thought it was a bit weird because although her friend is only 6 months younger, she is only up to about Kristen's shoulder. Most people would assume she is 8 or 9, not nearly 12. So I suppose they found it a bit amusing these two "kids" asking all these questions about plexiglass and tiles. LOL

They grow up so fast. Sigh.

I know what you're saying. My kids, especially Rachel, have never been afraid to talk to adults. I always make them order for themselves at restaurants and talk for themselves when adults ask them questions. (Partly because my brother's kids, now 17 and 14, would just sit there when spoken to and wait for their parents to answer. Drove me NUTS.) You should be proud! Those store workers are probably still amused.
