Cellphones!

We gave him a Tracphone, it is one of the pay as you go ones. He is starting football in a few weeks, joining choir, working on the school paper and in the play. His sister is busy too, so we put her on our regular cell phone plan and gave him her old phone. We got dd a pink razor, so she is too happy with that. She has had a cell phone for 4 years and never has abused it. Since I work 20 hours, volunteer in school and scouts and dh does scouts and works too, we need to keep in touch. Ds has been asking for a phone for a long time already, lol.

I be so lost w/o my cell phone.

But here's the thing. I was just as active, if not more, than my children are these days. And we had no cell phones. My 11 yo DD wants one, and I have told her no time and time again. There isn't a moment in her day when she is without access to a phone, or is without an adult who knows where she is at all times. The electronic age is completely taking over our children's lives, in my opinion. I'm not complaining, but I don't think I was ever in the house as much as my DD is. You couldn't KEEP me inside when I was younger. I can't get my DD to go outside. Too much electronic exposure. Now they view it as a necessity rather than a luxury.
