A Career Poll

I am curious to know what kind of job everyone has. Do you work outside of the home? Do you work part time or full time? Do you like your job? How long have you been doing your job?

I will tell you about myself...I am a part-time RN, I usually work 2-3 evenings a week. I work with babies and sometimes older kids.
I like my job, but it can be emotionally draining...and physically draining as well. I have been a nurse for 18 years now. I like my flexible schedule. I like helping the patients and their families...but sometimes I find it stressful.

BTW: I'm not trying to start the debate of "what's better": working outside the home or being a SAHM. I know all of us work, because we have kids!! :) I am just wondering what careers we all have.

I clean houses

I work three days a week.
I have been doing it for 9 years.
I like the flexilbilty, and actually cleaninf.
I hate not having time to do my own house, and I miss my kids when I am gone.

I am a teacher!

This is my third year teaching. I went back to school when Aly was in K, and it took me 2½ years (I already had 2½ years & an Associate's degree under my belt..unfortunately, only 15 hours counted, but I took up to 22 hours a semester and got it done!). I taught preschool for a half-year between Aly starting K and me starting college. Before that, I was stay-at-home mom & daycare provider mostly for before/after-schoolers, but I did have a couple daytime kids & summer kids, too.

I work for the Canadian government in international trade. That really can mean almost anything but right now I'm overseeing our commercial relations with Central and Eastern Europe. From time to time we go abroad and work in our Embassies and do the job similar to US Trade. I've been doing it for 14 years now. I don't "love" it but its a good paying job with great benefits and the people are good. Its not my passion but I can't see myself changing jobs at this point in my life. However if I won the lottery I wouldn't be hanging around. LOL

I was a SAHM for 8 years until my now ex lost his engineering job and was "unable" (read: refused) to find another job. Then I went back to work, but I never went to college (I was supposed to go back just as he lost his job) so I've taken odd jobs here and there. Since then, I've worked as a camp director/after school program director, a photographer and now I'm a front desk receptionist for three insanely busy opthalmologists (two retina specialists and a glaucoma specialist). I've loved all of my jobs, but do have that wish that I'd have had the chance to have a career.

I designed and developed computer systems for Walgreens for 10 years and then decided to stay home with the kids when Megan was about 15 months old (she's 7 now). I'm doing childcare for about 2 hours a week during church Bible Study because they needed someone and it's a fun thing to do. I enjoy the kids but I don't think I'd want too many more hours.

I am a behavior mod. therapist and I work with autistic kids. I help them learn to behave, react and interact in expected ways and help them understand basic relationship building, such as keeping positive eye contact, reading and interpreting facial expressions and body language. I also teach basic academics in the process and work on vocalizing with the ones who have language processing disorders. I really love my job but I can't wait to have my OWN team of therapists in the future!

We all have some interesting, different jobs. Thanks for posting.

How about this question: if you made enough money doing what you REALLY want to do (if you don't care too much for your job) what would you do? What would your "fun" job be, if you could afford it?
