One of the other threads brought up military school and I wondered...

Do you (or anyone else on the board) know anyone that sent their kids to military school?

I think that tuition is par for the course for many high end private schools. I think we all grew up with the idea that "military school" is like boot camp. It was the threat your parents held over you if you didn't shape up. But I think truly most of them are very high end private schools who are training their students for a military career as an officer. You don't go to military highschool and college and end up changing oil in army trucks. They are grooming their upper ranks and they really don't want serious

One of my co-workers sent her son to military school. I'll have to ask where and how much it was. I really don't know a whole lot about it, but I trust what dr. Laura says about her experiences with people who have called her and told her their kids turned out to be totally different after attending military school...and they were trouble-makers when they first started the school. I think there are military schools who deal with troubled kids....or maybe some other type of boot camp schools are out there but they aren't really referred to as "military".
The OP's kids sound so out of control it sounded like she should fear for her safety...and it sounded like they need outside help, not just counseling, sometimes counseling doesn't help at all. I really wouldn't want my kids around me if I feared for my safety and they were getting hauled away by cops and drinking, etc. That's terrible, and it sounds like neither parent has any control. I don't know, maybe they need a Dr. Phil intervention...maybe he could find the right place for them.

Oh yeah, I don't doubt that military school would benefit kids that are in dire need of structure.
