ALong the lines of the martial arts question...Do you have any classes at your gym that are not traditional gym classes?

I don't think we have anything other than Zumba or dance2themax and they're pretty regular gym classes.

We've had belly dancing, too, but it wasn't well attended. People don't usually want to pay for gym memberships and then additional classes at my gym. But, my friend's gym has boot camp that's extra and a tri clinic, too.

Bellydancing and hip-hop are all I can think of.

Hmm, so are these "extra" classes open to people outside the gym for a larger fee that doesn't include the gym membership? I have to agree that it would be hard to pay extra for something when you already pay for gym membership, even if you'd willing pay to take it somewhere else in addition to going to the gym.

Yes, people who aren't members pay more (though I think as marketing goes, they play it as members discount, rather than non-members surcharge;-)

I've seen water aerobics classes in the deep end that look hard but the participants are still older and overweight. I wonder what the turn off is for others since it looks like a great workout.

i think that's the turn off - they think water aerobics is only for older/larger folks and will be too easy for them.

but also (and i can relate to this) it's a bigger pain than a spinning class or

I only have a speedo that I wear. Nothing fashionable because I have such an odd body, apparently, that nothing fits. I don't get it.
