Sometimes, when you are so focused on the scale, it's good to also think about other measures of progress for your fitness program.

Definitely. The scale is one measure but it's not that accurate, especially for people who work out.

Conversely, whenever I don't get a regular workout for a 6 week period I always LOSE weight. My scale will drop 5 pounds, yet I'll feel fatter. It didn't take long for me to realize that I'd lost about 5 pounds of muscle. That's okay in the short run, but I always know that that loss of muscle now means I have to watch what I eat a lot more carefully, because I don't want those 5 pounds coming back until I'm working out hard again!
