I think it sounds like a great idea. And it might help you to be in the structure of a class rather than trying to figure a routine out on your own.

I say go for it hun! I see overweight people doing those classes all the time. You can only get better and better. I'm not overweight but - I'm pretty small. Meaning here. When I first started weight training. I could only lift a bar with 10 pounds for both my arms and legs and I'd be in pain. But after keeping it going I can know do 25 with my arms and 40 with my legs - and I don't look like i'd be able to carry it. It's all about trying no matter what. There's only progress.
