If you can swing it financially, I would spring for a few sessions with a personal trainer. Let the trainer know upfront that you're new to weight lifting and want to learn a program that you can do on your own. Form is super important and it's also good to learn what exercises work which muscles. You won't get that sort of attention in a class, but classes can be great for variety and meeting people at your gym.
