So many questions today... anyway, if you were to have a fitness test right now, would you be surprised if you were less than excellent in any category, eg. cardio (including recovery), strength (push ups and such), balance, core, flexibility?

To be completely honest, I'd be surprised if I were lower than excellent in anything but flexibility.

No, I just google and find what I think seems reasonable. The ACE fitness manual has a whole section on fitness testing but I don't remember anything for the core.

I have a bone to pick with that core test. :) They give NO middle ground - no gray area. I have rather strong core muscles but I can probably only do about 1:30 on the elbow planks (I have never tried to alternate lifting limbs).

Is there a good website that with a list of those fitness tests?

The heart rate recovery does depend on age but I don't have the chart handy for the step test. As you get older, your heart rate recovery rate

Okay, I'd be very surprised if your flexibility is anything but excellent!

cardio (including recovery) - Depends on the cardio and whether I'm indoors or outdoors. I could probably do the elliptical forever but still cannot run to save my life (well, I suppose I could to save my life :P)

strength (push ups and such) - Very good

balance - Good

core - Very good

flexibility - Excellent

Those are good improvements, especially in three weeks. You're in a cool position because you have the biggest potential for improvement.

I know I wouldn't be that great, since I've just started working out consistently. The only real improvement I've seen in the past three weeks is flexibility, and my ability not to wimp out when my cardio seems "too hard" to finish. In the past I'd give up, but now that I keep at it, it doesn't seem that bad at all, and I was just being lazy.
