Excessive muscle soreness

Hi everyone,

I usually hang out on the losing weight board, but I had a question that I thought you may be able to answer.

How can I reduce excessive muscle soreness when I strength train? The problem I have is that I am biking into work 3 times a week, and am hoping to increase it to 5. Its 14k (~9 miles)

Thanks for the response and ideas!

I used to work out faithfully until about a year and a half ago, and now I am getting back on the bandwagon. I think I will try with less exercises to start and get my body used to it again.

I LOVE supersets, but mainly because it makes the workout so much faster, lol.

I think I will take your advice and reduce what I have been trying to do and add on slowly. Once I am at a place where the soreness is managable and I need to increase would you first a) increase the weight you are lifting and keep the same number of reps/sets or b) Keep the weight the same and increase the the reps/sets?

Thanks again for your help!

I would start w/ 2 sets and do whatever weight you can to do 10-12 reps.
