Welcome to gym rats! Abdominal exercises won't make the fat in that area go away but it can help you pull up taller and straighter so your abs appear more flat. Plus, doing them helps you functionally on a day to day basis, especially as we get older. I think something like pilates would be great to work on your core. But, if you don't have time for it, something like abs work (and don't forget lower back) on a resist a ball could help. And, don't underestimate the power of doing a great plank and holding it as long as you can. What you want to do is work the rectus abdominus, not the 6 pack, but the muscle below (also called the pelvic girdle with good reason). Doing work on the ball, pilates, plank will hit that area. The best way to feel it is to cough and feel that muscle below that contracts. Through the day, consciously tighten that muscle for as long as you can. But, for really getting rid of the menipot, as we get older, we have to take up the workout and reduce calories.
