~What do you do to get a little "me time"? To unwind, destress and get your head on straight again?

I play piano. If people are home I plug the headphones in to the keyboard and play away! I take lessons once/week and practice 4-5 hours/week. I also try to go for a 45 minute walk 4-5 times/week. I wish I could do more. I'm one of those people who needs a lot of time to themselves - especially when things get tough and they are right now. :P

To get my me time I escape to the mall or the bookstore! The mall is not always the best place to go but it helps me. The bookstore is a necessity. Being around books calm me and nothing takes my mind away like a good book. I go as needed. =) I need alone time to unwind and get my thoughts together.

Katie you should really make yourself a priority. A well rested "you" makes for a mom that can bring her A game! Try scheduling it...

You will definitely survive! I did this for two years. Dh worked in Toronto and we live in Chicago. I made sure the kids' schedule allowed a hour or two several times/week for me to have some time to myself and we went to visit him and spend the weekend in Toronto once or twice/year. Make sure the kids understand that you will need a little more help around the house and agree as a family who is going to help with what.

If you want to "talk" more, send me a shout out or email using the email in my profile.

Currently I get home from work an hour before the kids get home so I use that time to de-stress.

I really don't get any me time. Because I take care of "Grandma" all the time, even the times when I am out of the house, it is usually just to run the kids somewhere....and even then I am stressed because I have either left Grandma alone, or somebody is sitting with her and waiting for me to get back.

Lately though I have been taking my Ipod to Sam's practice and listening to Joyce Meyer or Joel Osteen...some sort of positive message. It makes me feel refreshed. I try to do that once a week.
