Do lots of people here have email for their kids????

I always make my kids use MY email address.

Are there any known GOOD, filtered ones for kids?

Connor has had his own email address since he was seven years old.

We used parental control settings so he could only recieve email from designated addresses. (Mostly family members at that time).

I let Morgan set up a Yahoo account, but I know the password & I go on frequently & weed out any junk she gets, plus I can check her sent mail & all...........I haven't had any problems.

Kurt has always had his own email addy. its through our service provider and the spam controls are set really high. I'm not a computer person, but you can set the filters to send spam right to the trash or to a separate folder. I don't know how to do that though.

Both my kids (11 & 14) have had their own emails for quite awhile (thru our service provider).

Well! I must be really naive.
I thought EVERYONE got Viagra, Porn, etc etc etc etc in their emails!

People write programs that randomly FIND your email address, you know.

Hmmm. Well, I wonder about my Bellsouth (AT&T). Lately, I've not gotten much- maybe it has those good controls too?

You "guys" have convinced me to look into it!

My kids both use gmail, and there is an automatic spam folder, which I check regularly (but it's always been empty).

So, with gmail you simply don't get much "bad stuff" when you set up your basic account?

I may think about that then - my bro has been pushing me to change to gmail - THANKS!!!!!!

And Gmail is free?
