Facebook: How addicting is it?

I'm just curious about Facebook....I'm leery of MySpace (mainly after seeing my brothers' rated R pages, finding out my now-12-year-old niece got a MySpace

Pages
YEP - Its as addicting as the boards!!!
I got a Myspace page a little over a year ago so my neice could see my kids.

I'm honestly a bit bored, or maybe bored isn't the right word, I'm a bit underwhelmed by it! I get tons of friend requests from people I don't know, and all the status updates are fun from folks I do know, but otherwise they are just kind of annoying and seem so ego-driven or something. My first week (which was just a few weeks ago) I did get on there a lot but frankly now I just check it and post if I have something to share, I am moving away from posting all the minutia!
My sister and I have a scrabble game we have going on that's fun, but that's pretty slow (a few minutes per day). I like looking at photos.
For me it's not addicting, but it's also slow moving because I don't accept many friend offers, only from those I actually KNOW fairly well (or know online well). I have figured out how to limit people, how to not see certain folks status updates and how to prevent folks from seeing mine, so that's helped.
For me, I check it a few times a day, but it takes seconds to do that. I don't post on there very often, just a status update now and then and then I do comment on others here and there.

Thanks!
At first I was thinking it would be a great way to keep in touch with Sofia (I hope she isn't totally scared away from this board) & then I remembered a friend from HS is on there, too, so that is why I asked.
Here's an article about facebook that cracks me up: http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1879169,00.html
What did I miss? Where did Sofia go?

I wondered about the scrabble, I saw that on a few other people's pages...
Sofia hopefully should be back soon, a little troll on the DYK thread has been bothering her quite a bit lately.
Someone posted something unkind in the DYK & so she hasn't been here.....
IRL, she's been pretty busy; I think Michael is going to be away from home
Ya, I haven't seen her on the DYK since last week, and I know Brandi mentioned her DH was going out of town for a conference this week.
Thanks for the link & the belly laugh, Nancy!
I'm going to check out Facebook.
