Megan (my 8 year old) is supposed to do an oral book report on a biography of Michelle Obama. As part of the report, they are supposed to dress and look like the subject of the biography. Anyone have any ideas? I'm thinking a sweater set and skirt and ballet flats. Megan (fashionista that she is) thought she should have a J Crew tag sticking out of the back of the neck of whatever she wears. I was thinking what ever I got she could wear for Easter as well. She has no skirts or dressy sweaters at the moment. She wore a dress for Christmas and everything from last spring is too small. I could check the J Crew website for kids clothes. Maybe they've got something... I'm at a total loss here.

If you want it to double as an Easter outfit, I would go ahead and spend the cash for something nice that she likes.
Otherwise I would hit a resale shop and find something that would work for a much smaller price and then get her an Easter dress that you both love. We are regular visitors of the local resale shop and the Salvation Army for school project outfits.

I agree with Christi. hit the resale shop find something that would work. you might be surprised what you can find.
Unless you just want something new. go buy it make sure she can and will wear it again.
We ended up buying a black and white tiered skirt, white scoop-neck t-shirt, and a green cardigan (same color Michelle wore at the inauguration). With black patent leather flats and black tights it will be very cute. She will wear the skirt and t-shirt as part of her Easter outfit. The skirt isn't necessarily Michelle Obama but they don't really make pencil skirts for 8 year-olds.
Her presentation is a week from Friday. I'm a planner. I hate leaving things until the last minute! I'm trying to teach my kids to plan ahead too so I wanted to start looking for the outfit in plenty of time.
Thanks for asking! I'll let you know how it goes. I don't usually post pictures of my kids but I may just make an exception this time.
