I have had bad experiences with dentists since I was a toddler.

I love my dentist. I feel like we finally found someone who's considerate and caring and not "scary". He's very mild mannered and gentle and explains everything. He has a sign in his waiting area that says "We Cater To Cowards" and that says it all for me. I've had so many bad dental experiences that I was very reluctant to go to one but found him a few years ago on the recommendation of a friend and can't be happier.

I've never had the nitrous oxide but he does use it on the kids and they don't seem to have any problems with it.

After yesterday's incident, I am terrified of the dentist!

Maybe you could do a 20 mile run, build up endorphins and then pass out in the dentist chair.

I love dentists that use digital x-rays. It's so easy for them to e-mail records.

Oh how uncomfortable that might be. Can't your new dentist call and have them sent over? That's what mine did so I never had to go back.

That's really awful and I've had a similar experience. I was just getting ready to go away to college when I needed a filling. My dentist (and he'd been my dentist since I was a kid) got really agitated when the novocaine wasn't working. At one point, he threw the novocaine gun on the table and stormed out. Then, he left me sitting in the chair so long that I was actually chewing on the inside of my mouth (and didn't know it because I was numb). I had to go to the hospital the day I moved into my dorm because the side of my mouth was so messed up.

Between that and having had a lot of dental work throughout my life, I have definitely been apprehensive about the dentist.

Your new dentist should be able to retrieve the x-rays from the old dentist. Just ask.
