Just to get it started. Red plan, no lites.

7/5, joined up. 253.6 lbs.
7/10, meal plan day. 251.4 lbs.
7/12, first official weigh in. 249.6 lbs. Total loss 4 lbs.
7/19, second official weigh in. 245.8 lbs. Total loss 7.8 lbs.

I had no (official) questions, and she had absolutely nothing to say about my food journal. (Because it's all there, no cheats.)

Now, just gotta do that 39 more times!

Yeah, the "Belle" confusion is exactly why I want to change his name. However, I keep calling him Bell, and it seems to work. So who knows? I gotta tell you, I have some anxiety about how well this cat will or will not fit into my household/lifestyle.

Lowest weigh in ever this AM, 184.2. I want my 183.8!

Day off, so I parked it on the computer for a while as the cat explored the apartment. Then i went to the gym. Good workout--did 10 minutes rowing, 60 minutes elliptical, and got through about 90% of the weight circuit before some people cut in and threw off my routine. I'm realizing that I'm definitely weaker than I used to be. I haven't done the circuit in months, mostly because I'm impatient. And it shows. My legs are the same strength, but my arms are weaker. (Weird, b/c I can do pushups out the wazoo now.)

Having a fondue and martini party tonight. I'm planning to stick to mostly veggies and be light on the cheese. And i'm not planning to drink (much). My friend is moving to England on Monday, so this is my way of sending her off. I should be okay, not totally on plan, but not off the rails either.

congrats on the 3 lbs lost at weigh-in. they must just beam to see you come in the door. this plan is working so well for you! or rather, *you* know how to *work* the plan.

all that exercise is integral to your success, i think. i know, for me, i would not be losing if i didn't hit the exercise hard and keep it interesting. if i don't shake things up with intervals or new strength routines, i quickly stagnate -- not to mention, i get bored! ;-)

well, have a terrific weekend, jess!

Jess,

Congrats on your great weigh in -- I guess all those high intensity workouts paid off. I'm sure you will make your goal of 185 for next week--that is just 2 lbs so sounds reasonable.

Enjoy your new kitty!

Well, the kitty went back to his original owner. Nothing wrong with him; I just had a bad feeling that I couldn't shake. It wasn't him, it was me. (Wow, does that sound like I'm dating someone on Seinfeld, or what?) I feel horrible for giving his original owner the relief of finding Bell a new home, then taking that relief away, but MY relief is more important. I felt guilty about giving him back, but ultimately, I feel good about my decision. So. All done. In the future, I'm going to be very careful about a decision to get a new pet. I didn't know I'd feel this way, and I need to remember what it was (even if I haven't quite figured it all out yet).

So, once I dropped the cat off at his house, i hit the gym. (Oh, 184.6 this AM. That's 0.4 up from yesterday, but last night, I had all that fondue and some wine, and not enough water. So, I'm fine. However, I'm pumping the water today so I don't see the fondue showing up tomorrow morning instead!) Did a 10 minute run at 6.0, then a hill walk interval, then another mile, then more hill walking, then 1/2 a mile at 7.0, then walk, then another 1/2 mile at 7.0, then more hill walking, then done. Abs and arms at home.

My friend is coming by today to try on the dress I wore to the wedding last month. She might wear it to a wedding next weekend. I'm also going to donate my old 16-tall jeans from Lane Bryant to her, as well as some other size 16 pants. I gotta accept that i won't wear those again. I havent' worn them in weeks, or probably months, so I gotta let them go.

Enjoying a quiet, COLD Saturday at home. Hope you all are doing well.

Heyy, Jess,

How did those ppl throw off your routine? I admit, i have never really had a membership with a gym before, so i don't know about these things.

You go, girrrlll, on your weight loss! I know you'll make it!
Hope your martini party went well, & that your friend has a good time in England..i would love to visit there! Is she going over there for good, or is it just for a while?

I hope your new cat will fit into your lifestyle, he sounds like a cutie..what does he look like? Cats are pretty good at adapting to any new environment, btw..they're very resilient! I would be much more worried if it was a dog...

Well, hope to hear from you more tomorrow...think i'll go play a game in yahoo, then go on to bed...have a good night..!

Hey Kimmi,

The people threw off my routine on the weight circuit. Basically, in the Cybex weight circuit area, you're moving from machine to machine in a pretty fast interval, not much down time. You do your 12-15 reps for one set on, say, the bicep curl machine and then immediately move to, say, the lat pulldown machine and within a minute, you're doing your 12-15 reps on that machine....and so on. It's in numerical order, and the general gym ettiquette is that you do the machines in order, unless one is empty and you're not going to cut anyone else off during THEIR circuit. Well, I was on the leg extension machine (works the quads) and about to move onto the hamstring curl machine, but some guy got on it...and just sat there. And the last machine was the abs one, and some guy plopped onto THAT one and stopped. So, I just stopped with the quads and went up to do my cardio routine. This is EXACTLY why I hate doing weight training. I have NO patience for the interlopers.

And the cat was returned to its owner yesterday morning. It adjusted pretty well, considering it's a pretty skittish cat, but *I* didn't adjust well. I thought it was a better decision to return the cat than to keep it. And I was right!

And my friend is moving to England for 2 years. She married a Brit, and he recently signed a work contract for 2 years. They intend to move back here in 2 years to start a family. She leaves tomorrow AM!

Hope you had a good day!

Thanks Jacqui!

I feel pretty guilty about the cat situation, but I also feel like I made the right decision for ME and for the cat. The cat deserves a home where the person's really into him being there, and I wasn't into it. I had cats growing up, and I thought I wanted a new cat now, but...maybe not. I am just really into MY SPACE right now. *sigh*

My friend took some 18's and some 16's I had, and I'm going to sell the rest. I'll divvy everything up into lots to sell on eBay. Hopefully get some money, especially considering I spent $40 each on those pants and some of them, I only wore a few times!! My closet is definitely lighter. I went from having the entire length of the rod filled with shirts to having about 1/4 of that. Seriously. I still have some stuff tucked away up in my summer closet, but that stuff will probably get ditched in a few months, too.

I need more size 12's! yay!

So, I was a little bad yesterday. I had dinner at a grocery store's buffet with a friend. I wasn't bad until dessert. I had rotisserie chicken, veggies, a big salad, etc....and then I had low-fat frozen yogurt with peanut butter sauce and chocolate bits. And these little fried apple somethings that were so good. I also didn't have enough water, so yeah, of course I'm up to 186.0 today. I knew it, though, so I wasn't too disappointed. Not ideal, I know, but I coulda done so much worse that I don't feel TOO bad.

And besides, I'm starting to come to grips with the idea of me being so close to my goal weight that I'll accept whatever weight I get to on my goal date. Like, I'd love to get to 170 on April 17th, as per my goal. But if I get to 175 on April 17th, I'll stop there. I have enough people telling me that I look like if I lose anything else, I'll be too thin, so I feel good. I am smaller than I was in high school. So, we'll see. I still want to be totally on plan, but I'm also going to be realistic.

Anyway, I beat myself up at the gym. I really wanted to get to 1000 calories today, and I had to work SO HARD to get that. I did the arc trainer, and I upped the resistance to level 6 (before, i was doing level 1 or 2). I did it for an hour and I really busted my ass and got 999 calories. Then i did a cooldown 5-minute walk on the treadmill. Trying to eat carefully today to make up for yesterday. :)

I have some chicken tenderloins marinating in a buffalo sauce, and I'll bake them up later tonight for football watching. I've had egg whites, mashed rutabaga, and a rice cake so far. Apple and PB is coming up.
