Just to get it started. Red plan, no lites.

7/5, joined up. 253.6 lbs.
7/10, meal plan day. 251.4 lbs.
7/12, first official weigh in. 249.6 lbs. Total loss 4 lbs.
7/19, second official weigh in. 245.8 lbs. Total loss 7.8 lbs.

I had no (official) questions, and she had absolutely nothing to say about my food journal. (Because it's all there, no cheats.)

Now, just gotta do that 39 more times!

Kimmi, I look at it this way: 6 egg whites is a protein. 3 eggs is a protein. So, 2 egg whites is a 1/3 of a protein and 1 egg is a 1/3 of a protein, right? That way, you get mostly whites with a little bit of yolk to color it up. :) It's not an entire protein, a little more than half. But to me, a protein is something like 200+ calories, and egg whites are only 15 each. So, 2 egg whites is 30 cals and one egg is 75 cals, so that's only 100 cals, which to ME is only 1/2 a protein. I know it's fuzzy math, but A) I'm bad at math and B) it's been working for me just fine all this time! Actually, what I did in the beginning and am mostly doing now is 3 egg whites + 1/2 a yolk.

I didn't go for a run in the snow after all. That was ambitious. It was pretty windy, and I knew I'd be miserable. If it were a nice, calm snowfall with big fat flakes, I would have run. But this is nasty! Today is even worse. Can't wait to clean off my car, eventually!

Where do you get that protein powder, Marg? What kind do you recommend? I'd be willing to try that!

Be safe! We have lots of ice out there right now--I definitely feel good about my decision to stay home, even if it means burning a vacation day.

Thanks! I'm also really bad at Math! Saved me from having to do it, lol!
Sorry your walk wasn't doable...you're gonna get enough of a work-out getting your car out from under that snow, lol! Even when it melts off some, it's still gonna be a job!

Jess,

I get my protien powder at Trader Joes -- it is made by Designer Whey and is calld Aria Woman's protien -- 2 scoops is 80 cal and according to the LAWL diaticians OK to use once or twice a week as a 1/2 protien on the Red plan.

Here is the nutritional information:

Calories - 80
Total Fat - 1 gram
Saturated Fat -.5
Cholesteral 15 mg
Carbohydrates 3 gram
Fiber - 2 grams
Sugars - 1 gram
Protien- 14 grams
Vitamin B2- .1mg
Folic Acid 600 mcg
Calcium - 280 mg
Iron - 1.4 mg
Phosporus - 200 mg
Magnesium 12 mg
Sodium 100 mg
Potassium - 85 mg

Ingredients:

Soy Protien Isolate, Whey protien blend, fructose, natural vanilla
flavor, lecithin, cellulose gum, malic acid, stevia, natural vitamin E.

This morning I made mulitgrain oatmeal -- 1/4 cup dry in the microwave then added in 1/2 cup skim milk and one scoop of protien powder -- it came out kind of like oatmeal cereal -- good and filling.

***Got a Snow day here -- work closed at 1PM -- I got out of there before 2 -- so that was nice. Hope you are enjoying your vacation/snow day.

I never used to understand the cravings people would describe when they were PMSing.

Jess,

glad some of the water weight is starting to come off.

One more suggestion for you I know you work out a lot -- do you do much strength training -- I know you said the circuit training bothers you when others do not follow the gym rules -- added muscle is supposed to up your metabolism. Just a thought.

Thanks Jacqui and Marg. Marg, I'll definitely be looking for that protein powder, or something like it, on my next shopping trip. And you're right--muscle is a much better furnace for weight loss, but I think that building muscle (in me) also causes water weight. I'm wondering if the spinning is making me hold water? Cuz my thighs are tight and huge...defintely some muscle growth there.

I'm so frustrated. I know I'll be showing a gain today at weigh in. And there's nothing I can do about it. I've done everything I can.

I'm even taking these rest days into account (well, resting other than shoveling heavy snow), thinking that might jog my body into wanting to lose again. We'll see.

I feel very bloated, so I know it's water. like, it's only 2 lbs over my lowest low weight, but my belly feels huge and bloated.

ARGH.

hey, jess. your plateau definitely sounds frustrating. you are doing everything "right" so it's a mystery why you aren't losing!

are you tracking your body fat percentage, by chance? definitely if your legs are "tight and huge" you have some muscle growth. but that's a good thing -- heck, a *great* thing. i've had the same thought about my own legs -- if i didn't have that muscle building there, i'd probably be in a smaller size. then i slap myself out of it and i remember that i'd rather be fit, lean, and strong -- rather than just be a skinny girl in a size zero!!

i'm just wondering if your bf % would show a loss of fat and gain of muscle since this platea appeared. there was one period of time during my loss phase that i stayed at the same weight several weeks no matter how hard i worked. then i checked my bf and it had gone down. over those weeks that i thought i'd plateaued, i'd actually lost 2 lbs fat and gained 2 pounds muscle. so no change on the scale to confirm that i'd made a big difference in my body composition and i was frustrated!! but the bf reading told the story behind the scale weight!

just hang in there. you are too close to the finish line. i know you'll keep at it, though. you are too determined to give up!

Good idea--I haven't tested that in a while. I'll do my measurements too. (Though my waist will surely show a gain--my belly's been bloated for almost a week now! What's going ON?)

I'm pretty sure the bodyfat hasn't changed drastically since the new year, though. I thought it went down maybe 1%. Eh.

I'll check tomorrow AM!

*pout*

I went to weigh in today. In jeans. For the first time ever.

And I was up to 189.2.

GRRRRRRRR.

So, it's noted in my chart that I was in jeans, but even so, that was a gain of something from last week's 186.6.

I know I'm bloated.

I'm going to go back to my journals from months 1 and 2 and I'm gonna replicate those meals, see if that helps. What wasn't I eating before, what WAS I eating before, etc.

RRRrrrrrr.
