Just to get it started. Red plan, no lites.
7/5, joined up. 253.6 lbs.
7/10, meal plan day. 251.4 lbs.
7/12, first official weigh in. 249.6 lbs. Total loss 4 lbs.
7/19, second official weigh in. 245.8 lbs. Total loss 7.8 lbs.
I had no (official) questions, and she had absolutely nothing to say about my food journal. (Because it's all there, no cheats.)
Now, just gotta do that 39 more times!

Jess,
The jeans add weight -- PMS adds weight -- and sore muscles add weight (water retention -- while the muscle heals) -- so I'm sure your weigh in next week will be better.
Keep your chin up.

I hope it's better!
Did I mention how I'd been reading through old journals from junior high and high school, trying to find any place where I'd written down either a size or my weight? Like, "I'm so fat. I weigh 188 and that's too fat" or something? Cuz in high school, I wore a lot of men's clothes (men's jeans to get the length, XL shirts b/c I liked my oversize clothing), so I don't know what actual size I was. I think my senior prom dress was a 16. I think I had a pair of size 14 Gap jeans. But that memory is fuzzy. Anyway, couldn't find an entry, so I'm back at square one. I just really wonder if I'm so close to my body's "set point" that it's making it hard to drop below 185. I dunno. I know that I'm still a 12/14 and I want to be a 10/12.
I did my bodyfat this AM. It's actually up about 0.5%. I checked my measurements. Everything is the same. I just haven't been moving. So, like I said, I'm going to revisit my food journals from July, AUgust, September, and see what I was doing differently then that I'm not doing now.
And on Wednesday, I see the doctor to talk about my possible heart murmur and the irregular heartbeat I think I've got, and the lightheadedness every time I stand up, and the palpitations, and my super=low resting heart rate. (Supposedly, a super low resting heart rate means you're really athletic....or you have an irregular heartbeat. Supposedly lightheadedness means you stood up too fast....or you have an irregular heartbeat.) Getting it checked out. While I'm there, I'm going to talk to the doctor about my LAWL diet and the plateau I'm on. The counselor recommended that I try to get a 'script for a water pill, because I feel so bloated. I probably won't--might just pick up something OTC? I dunno. And the counselor said that the red plan is the best one for people with cardiac concerns, so she wont' talk to anyone about moving my plan (based on the plateau thing) until we know what's up with my heart. But I don't want to move plans--all that means is less food. I cannot possibly subsist on LESS food.
Anyway, today's a new day. I'm gonna do my best.
I wrote in Shaye's thread about how my ex-roommate left her "Air Walker" in our attic when she moved out. (She moved it in there in 1999 when we moved in and NEVER USED IT.) It's like a Gazelle. A really cheap elliptical kind of thing. Anyway, I dragged it out to the bedroom adjoining the attic, which is completely empty. I brought up my Swiss ball. And that's my new exercise room. I'm going to get myself a jumprope tonight, too. In the mornings, I'm going to do jumprope, jumping jacks, the Air Walker, and some crunches/pushups on the ball. Just for 15 min or so, get my motor running. Maybe that extra 15 min a morning will help. I know I talked about running before, and the benefits of that 15 extra min, but the weather has been just too icy and cold.
*shrug*
Just gonna do my best.
Jess
hey, jess. sounds like a pretty neat home gym you've got set up there!
glad you are getting in to see the doc. definitely need to check out those heart issues, and might as well ask about your plateau since you're there! i'll be curious to hear what advice you get.
sorry to hear your bf is about the same -- really thought that might be the key to what is going on with the plateau. now i'm even more stumped that your scale isn't moving! hopefully the doc can give some insight.

Hehe, I'm giggling to myself b/c I thought when you wrote "bf", you meant "boyfriend." And I was like, "MEL! Mr. 6'8" hasn't been around for a long time!" Ah, I confuse myself.
Anyway.
I reviewed my Sparkpeople logs for August, September, etc. I discovered that I was a lot stricter with calories (even with the extra skim millk) and averaged 1200-1300 a day back then, while burning 1000 cals per session. Now I'm eating 1500 (technically within Sparkpeople's range, but that means I'm adding in non-LAWL extras, of course), and because I'm smaller, burning fewer calories.
So, I gotta at least get back to 1200 a day, 1300 tops. More chicken and tuna, and more whole wheat pasta. Seems I ate a lot more of that back then and haven't been eating it lately.
It's really so strange. When I first got to 186, I was so thrilled. Now that I've been parked here for a few weeks, I feel huge and gross and fat. My belly no longer feels flat--it feels bloated. That's not happy. And yet, nothing has changed (weight, BF, measurements). It's all my perception.
So, that's that.
I'm hitting the gym tonight. Gonna RUN! Gonna ROW! Might do WEIGHTS! Yeah!
Jess
Jess,
Glad you had a chance to review your food from earlier in the yr when you were losing more.
Hope you had a good workout at the gym -- and your home gym sounds nice too -- I really like exercising in the morning -- though I did skip the last 2 days-- tomorrow will be a catch up day again --lots of work on the legs - thighs, calves, quads, hamstrings -- and 2 other exercises I cannot remember yet -- you may want to see if you can get your hands on a copy of Jorge Cruises 8 min in the AM program -- it is available at the library. Over the course of a week you get a full body work-out -- next week I am going to try and go through the rotation twice --so will work the full body 2 times a week.
Anyways enough about me -- this is your journal.
Will you be watching the Diet Special 20/20 tonight -- think it should be interesting in the promo video it showed that the lady actually gained on the plan with the lites and supplements--very sad and talks about how the counselors are encouraged to push the lites -- your lucky that you are not eating them due to a medical reason.

hey, jess. enjoy that gym session!!
bf = boyfriend. too funny! i've been thinking lately how bff = best friends forever. so junior high. but i can *still* remember those days. i am only 33 of course!!! not so ancient. ;-)
wow, if you were that strict with calories early in the program, maybe your body would respond to some low-cal days nicely. maybe every other day you could aim for 1200 then go for 1500 on the alternates? i just think that 1200 is too low for your height/weight. way too low. it worked earlier on, but now you are lighter and also your body has adjusted to lower calories in general. so maybe if you mix it up, you'll get some results. i'm just concerned that you might psych your body into starvation mode by going too low . . .
okay, i know you've had fun sweating at the gym. what a friday night! now keep us posted as you switch things up and move to goal.

Hey Marg,
I think I will check the book out from the library--it's worth a look and a try! 15 minutes on the air walker and 8 minutes of strength training should be good!
I ran 3 miles at 6.6 tonight, then walked hills and walked fast, then ran another 1/2 mile at 7.0. Felt good to be at the gym--hadn't worked out since Monday!!
I admit that I had a cookie at work today. A big sugar cookie with icing on it. It tasted SO good. I guess I was kinda like, "Ugh" about having to readjust everything and rebelled. Or my PMS is out of control. Or both.
Anyway, good work wiht your exercises! You're motivating me with the morning workouts!
I will be watching tonight. I'm really interested in what they have to say. I'm sure the discussion here will be heavy!
Jess
The gym was great, Mel. I hadn't been since Monday, wth the snow and everything. I'm going tonight, tomorrow, Sunday, Monday, and won't rest til Tuesday. But, I'll be doing my morning workouts too, so....see ya later, calories! Anyway, got a good run (and gave myself a good toe blister).
As I told Marg, I ate a big ol' sugar cookie today, and boy was it good. Really good. TOO good. My PMS is really gettin' me this month.
Anyway, I wonder too about my calorie drop. I might do 2 days at 1200-1300 and the next at 1400 or something. I would have thought that as a heavier person, I should have been eating more and now that I'm smaller, I should be eating less. But definitely don't want to do the starvation "thang". I'll have to see. Maybe some of my 'extras' were contributing to my water weight, too?
Just thinking out loud.
Anyway, heading off to watch silly TV....happy Friday!
Jess
Hey Jess, looks like my plataeu might be over... not sure though.
We'll see what happens between now and Monday.
Julie
I'm rooting for you, Julie!!

Another good workout today. I did 40 minutes on the arc trainer--burned about 550 cals. Then I did 30 minutes on the bike (which is not one of my normal cardio machines), burned another 275 or so. I was checking out my calves in the mirrors at the gym today. They're definitely slender now. Slender and muscular. Yay, running! I met up with a friend earlier, too, and noticed her checking out my calves too. Woo!
Anyway, eating good stuff today, too. I went through my cabinets and fridge and threw away anything that I'd let slip into the house. I'm getting back to basics. I know what I gotta do the next two months to make this work.
Plan:
morning workouts (air walker, swiss ball, running outside when I can)
mixing up 1200-1300 cal days with 1400-1500 cal days
personal training starting in March
Yay!
Oh, and I have a date tonight. Yay!
