Just to get it started. Red plan, no lites.

7/5, joined up. 253.6 lbs.
7/10, meal plan day. 251.4 lbs.
7/12, first official weigh in. 249.6 lbs. Total loss 4 lbs.
7/19, second official weigh in. 245.8 lbs. Total loss 7.8 lbs.

I had no (official) questions, and she had absolutely nothing to say about my food journal. (Because it's all there, no cheats.)

Now, just gotta do that 39 more times!

Just a thought because I am new and don't even come close to knowing everything. I've been asking tons of questions. But if you are weighing in more than once a week. The day before your weigh in don't eat like the TV dinner or sushi etc etc. Because it was probably water weight gain but it is discouraging. If it is once a week that you are weighing in that is even more doable. I do know about weigh ins because I used to weigh people all the time PMS time is at least 2 pounds but if you stuck to the program, YOU WILL lose next time and usually a big loss. Okay, so don't blow it because of a stupid scale who does not understand PMS. :-)

Jo,

Yep.

This is my daily morning weight that I do at home, so I know where I am. I weigh in officially once a week, which is Thursdays.

But yeah, yep, I know. :)

hey, jess. i think my mind must've been wandering as i talked about the calorie drop being too much now that you are lighter. of course, our bodies can run on less fuel when we weigh less. what i meant was this -> while your body responded early to the lowered calories *and* responded *very* well! -- i'd be cautious of keeping calories super low later in your weight loss phase. it could be slowing down your metabolism now that you've been in weight loss mode for a good bit of time. body gets used to 1200 calories, slows down metabolism and runs more "efficiently" and weight loss stalls. anyway, not sure if that makes any sense whatsoever! but maybe!! so maybe if you mix it up by having low-cal days alternated with higher cal days, you'd get a greater benefit by keeping my body continually guessing! just a thought . . .

Hi Jess,

Sorry to hear your frustration at the scale today -- sure it is just water weight. Glad you and Mr. midwest are doing well -- good to start off slow in my opinion.

Did about 30 min yesterday -- and today about 20 or so minutes --was running late but still wanted to squeeze in a workout.

At night I often do not get home till after 6 -- and am ready for dinner so fix mine -- then sometimes have to fix something for DH if we do not have leftovers then it is off to the train station to get DH and home and dinner for him -then a bit of relaxing time and off to bed to start it all over again! Plus if I work out at night I get too wired -- too much of a second wind.

Hi Jac!

Yep, I'm a princess. And I think this guy thinks so too! Hooray! Still too soon to get too excited, but I have a good feeling. I think me having paid my dues over and over AND OVER is paying off.

RE: the sodium. My instinct is this: I used to eat a really high sodium diet. I never tracked it, but I added regular salt to everything, and I ate out a lot, and I just generally never paid attention to it. Now I use lite salt and I make a lot of food from scratch and don't get the sodium. AND I'm drinking more water. Hence, I think my body has adjusted its tolerance for sodium and I'm even more sensitive to bloat than I ever was before. Like, our low-sodium diets are good in the long-run, but we also end up doing ourselves a disservice during weight loss. Do you know what I mean??

In the end, I think it's healthy that I've adjusted to using less salt and being more aware of it. So, *shrug* I accept it.

It just sucks when it stalls the weight loss.

:)

Totally makes sense to me, Mel! I definitely can't go lower than 1200 calories....I know I'd pass out if I did!! I do so much working out that 1200 calories barely replaces what I spent at the gym!!

Unfortunately, I've had a mixed up, busy week and haven't really tracked much of anything to know if I'm doing higher or lower days. I think today was a lower day, but I've got too much surprise party planning to spend on SParkpeople to find out!!

:)

Yum, the miso soup was delish, and I loaded a minimal amount of soy sauce with TONS of wasabi. WOOOO! The thing is, I'm sensitive to soy, so the soy sauce and miso irritates my guts. All the more reason to limit how much I have, right?

I also think this restaurant wasn't using LITE soy, so I got a full dose of sodium.

I weighed 192 at the doctor's office, immediately following lunch and while wearing jeans/boots. And 188 on my brother's scale later, wearing jeans and sneakers, immediately following dinner. I was pretty pee-y today, so I think the water weight is gone. (Fingers crossed--weigh in is tomorrow!)

The doctor's appointment was interesting. I got an EKG taken and the rhythm is normal, just very slow. (Brachycardia.) She can hear the murmer, but it's not bad. I told her about the palpitations, so more tests are coming. I had blood taken to check my cholesterol and thyroid (how GREAT would it be if I were hypothyroid and THAT was why I'm on a plateau! HA!). And I have to call another specialist to schedule an echocardiogram (ultrasound on my heart) and get an "event monitor". Wondering what that is, but I'm gonna guess that it's something I wear that will record my palpitations when they happen.

Then I took my car to get an oil change and brakes done, and walked out $400 lighter. Ouch.

Mr. Midwest and I already have a date for Friday planned, but we were going to try to see each other this week, too. I was thinking it'd be tonight, but he wanted to do it tomorrow night. "But we're going out Friday, too, right?" "Of course!" he said. Haha.

I totally hear ya, Marg. I don't want to work out too late either, cuz it definitely gives you a second wind. Plus, my hair gets too sweaty and I hate sleeping on a wet head. (Sorry, gross, I know.)

20 minutes is better than no minutes! THat's what I told myself as I hauled my butt out for a run this morning. Hoping there's less ice tomorrow morning, but that's wishful thinking. All that melting snow is gonna freeze up like crazy tonight...

Anyway, have a good night!
