Just to get it started. Red plan, no lites.

7/5, joined up. 253.6 lbs.
7/10, meal plan day. 251.4 lbs.
7/12, first official weigh in. 249.6 lbs. Total loss 4 lbs.
7/19, second official weigh in. 245.8 lbs. Total loss 7.8 lbs.

I had no (official) questions, and she had absolutely nothing to say about my food journal. (Because it's all there, no cheats.)

Now, just gotta do that 39 more times!

Hey Jess - I did all that heart stuff. I had the palapations too. Very scary. My heart would flutter and skip but it never hurt. Dr. gave me echo and they found a small pinhole in my heart but it was there since birth and shouldn't hurt me until I am alot older she said (like 80 - I hope!!!) - that little hole gave me the heart murmur she always heard. The echo is easy. Lay down and they ultra sound your heart right there. Simple and no pain at all...kinda cool to watch.

The event monitor - you wear it for 24 hrs if I remember right. Little sticky tags. Mine showed almost nothing. The minute I took that sucker off the next day I had a 1000 of those heart flutter palapation things!!!--what's up with that. She never caught one of those things on the monitor. (HUH) But it is nothing bad - real easy.

Then I did the treadmill test and heart is perfect and ran the treadmill perfect and everything.

So - the conclusion. STRESS - yeah I had WHAT.....but I was stressed actually so...??

All heart palapations stopped about 1 week into LA. Can you believe it. I have not had one in 2 mos. and they were a daily event. So - go figure - ???----something I was eating? I just don't know why they stopped.

Good luck - all should be fine. Crazy though...

Thanks Jacqui and Karen.

I think the 24-hour recorder and the event recorder are two different things. From what I understand, the recording device I'll get (once I call and make the appt!) will be a self-activated recorder. It'll be dormant until I get a palpitation and then I'll hit the switch and it'll record the event and transmit it to the doctor. Because I don't get them daily, it'd be hard to do that Holter monitor thingie. And yeah, I'm excited about the echocardiogram. I already saw my abdominal aorta this past summer, now I get to watch my heart!

Back down to 185.2 this morning. Knew it was the soy. Still, not great, cuz weigh in will be 187 or something. Still better than last week's 189. Which was HORRIBLE, the gain from 186. BUT, I was wearing jeans. ANYWAY, moving on.

Mr. Midwest is coming over tonight AND we have plans tomorrow night. Woo!

Weigh in today, down 0.8 back to 188.2. I forgot to take off my sweater, AND I had to pee and go #2, so whatever, I'll take it. Next week it'll be great!

Jess,

Sounds like next week's weigh in will be good -- do you normally try and weigh in with similar type clothing? Especially since you only weigh in once a week that will help make the #'s easier to compare.

Hope you have a fun weekend -- TGIF!

Ya know, up until last week's weigh in, I always wore the exact same clothes to weigh in. But last week, I wore jeans because it was SO COLD outside. And then this week, I went right from work. I'm not sure if I want to keep up the trend of same-clothing-every-time or not. I mean, obviously, that helps the comparisons and eliminates guesswork about where losses and gains actually happened, but at the same time, it's a little silly to have to stop at home just to change into capri workout pants and a tank top JUST to go weigh in for 5 minutes.

Anyway.

Mr. Midwest bailed on me last night--a work issue came up for him and by the time it got resolved, it was a little late and he was grumpy. And we don't live terribly close to each other, so we decided to just scrap it and make sure we make tonight a great night with each other. So, i was able to finish all the nametags for my dad's party tomorrow, and then I hit the gym. I was glad to get that workout in--I hadn't been since Sunday, bein' so busy.

Today, I'm doing a half-vacation day so I can finish running around to get stuff for my dad's party. I have to cut a ton of lemon and lime wedges for the bar for tomorrow, and I have to make a HUGE salad. I'm also going to make my own dressing for the salad--my combo of EVOO, red wine vinegar, and dijon. (I'll bring a few others for the pickier eaters, too.) Gonna hit the gym this afternoon, too, and then going out with Mr. Midwest.

Tomorrow AM is more gym time, then party prep, and then....the party! I'm going wear my other wrap dress that I got a few months ago, with my black knee-high boots. My dad is so proud of me with the return of my thin physique, and I think he'll be totally tickled to see me in a dress. (When we were out at dinner the other night, I said, "Dad, I'm stuck at this weight! I don't think I can get any smaller!" and he looked me up and down appreciatively and said, "Well, you're at a good place to get stuck!". Aww. Earlier, he'd exclaimed, "You're getting so thin!!" My dad was one of the first to give me a hard time when I started gaining weight a long time ago, so his approval of my weight loss means a lot.)

185.2 this morning. That's fine. :)

Hi Jess,

I was just doing some catch up on your Journal. Sounds lIke Mr. Midwest is an interesting prospect. I hope you have fun with dating him!

I too have had an Ultrasound of my heart, EKG etc. since my mom passed away from an enlarged heart my doctor wanted to rule it out in me.... Thank God, I don't have that too, but it was a stressful examination. The ultrasound tech was awesome and reassured me the whole time, pointed everything out, and of course me being a cryer I was there letting a few tears out and she patted me on the arm and said, you do not have an enlarged heart. Of course they are not supposed to talk to you about anything but she could tell. It was very reassuring.
Now, lately I have been getting a sharp pokey feeling in my upper right side of my breast... not sure if its deep within the chest or on the surface. I think its time to in for another round of tests just to be sure!

I think you are right the 24 hour monitor is different from the event monitor. But I would be surprised if they didn't try the 24 hr one first....

Anyway, I hope all goes well for you. Have a nice party tonight.

How scary, Julie! I'd definitely be getting things checked out if I had family history like that. Luckily, I don't. Or I don't think I do--the only real issue in my family is high blood pressure (which I don't have) and cancer. Blech.

I have a sharp pain in my chest too, and I know it's on the outside. For me, it's what the doctor called a "referred pain" from my shoulder. I have a sloppy shoulder joint on that side (the other side was reconstructed many years ago), and the muscles from the chest wall pull on the ligaments between my ribs. It's a little scary, but the doctor said that since it's on the outside, it's obviously not my heart and is nothing to worry about.

The Mr. Midwest thing could be something good. I'm trying not to get too excited about it, just in case it doesn't work out. But so far, "something tells me I'm into something good!"

Karen, this party is gonna be crazy! My stepmother invited pretty much everyone they knew--if everyone had actually RSVP'd "yes", it'd be over 130 people. Luckily, it's only (ha) going to be 70. We've been planning this for months, and now it's finally happening. We think he knows there's a party, but he doesn't know who's coming and how we have a multiple-layered surprise for him. His buddies from high school will be there, a buddy from the Air Force, work friends, etc. I have to get everything set up around 4, and then people arrive around 5:30, and my dad shows up at 6. We're going to have certain groups of people "sequestered" in back rooms for the very beginning part of the party, to help the surprise. He'll walk in and only see family and be like, "oh cool!" and then we'll bring out a clump of 20+ people from the back room and be like, "Surprise!" and he'll go, "WOW!" and then we'll sit him down to start a "This Is Your Life" presentation, and have his cousin start off with stories from his childhood. ANd then (I'm the host/MC of this thing) I'll say, "Gee, it's a shame we don't have someone from high school here to tell us about Mike as a teenager..." and his high school buddies will come out of sequester and go SURPRISE!!!! and that'll be the final surprise. The nametag are color coded to help with all of this (yes, we're anal), and it's going to take a hell of a lot of coordination, so I'm gonna be running around like a nut all night with my clipboard, pen, and cell phone. (I'm also the "I'm lost!" contact person, and this party's being held in a really nice penthouse suite in an office building in a shady part of town--people are pretty leery about coming to this town.)

Wow, did I have a lot to say about the party or what??! Guess it's a big deal or something, huh?

Anyway, there's going to be a lot of good food there--some will be totally bad and I'll only have a nibble. But most of my family is pretty healthy, so I'll load up on veggies and stuff. We'll have plenty! However, I DO intend to have some cake!!

Okay, shutting up now!

Jess
