Hello everyone! I'm in the middle of week 3 and I thought I better start one of these journals to keep myself in line. I tried to start one a few weeks ago and I screwed it up somehow so I'm starting over! Here's a little info on me. My name is Mary Rose, age 50. My husband and I are doing this together. We both have hit a 50 age crisis! Him more than myself. Ha! Sleep apnea, HBP, family diabetes, etc. I've had HBP for 23 years and I don't think that will change much. We had a major loss in our life 26 months ago when we lost our 20 year old son. He was in an auto accident and he died from injuries he sustained in that accident. I'd say we started the uncontrollable eating, eating out..I'm sure you know what I mean. SO..here we are. Thank God we're doing this together! It's so much easier. My goal is 54 lbs. and his 80 lbs. A NEW LIFE!

Memorial weekend was very hard on us. I did okay but it was hard! He didn't fair as well. He was the cook at our nephew's graduation party and you can only imagine how that went. He's been a snacker while he cooks from way back. He's definitely paying for it now. We weigh in tonight and he's not thinking it's going to go well. I don't think I've lost my 2 lbs but I don't think I've gained either. We'll see.

I'll be back because I've got a long way to go!!

merry christmas, rosie. the reindeer in your yard sound terrific! i can see why maddie would love that!

yes, santa has spoiled my son rotten this year. more star wars figures than he can count, board games, computer games, and on the list goes. ;-) this morning he was delighted to find loads of candy under the tree. his stocking couldn't hold it all! ahhh, to be a kid again. they really got it made.

i think we're all faced with lots of goodies -- and giving in to some. maintenance *is* hard, but it's about never giving up. when you gain some, accept it and do something about it. when you indulge, make sure it's worth it -- stuff you really enjoy. then get to work after things settle down and lose what you've gained. you know what to do!

Mary Rose,

Hope you enjoyed your holiday with your grandkids.

Hard to believe that New Year's eve is this Wednesday -- the year sure went by fast.

Have a great Week.

hi, rosie. sorry to hear about maddie getting sick. yes, a 3yo getting sick like that *is* a scary thing. and heartbreaking. i remember so many visits to the ER with ds in that 1-3 yo timeframe. so glad that's finally settled down now. i was just thinking yesterday about how long it's been since we've had a sick visit at the doc. probably a year. and he used to struggle with reactive airways, so every single cold would land us in the ER with him struggling to breathe, then doing breathing treatments at home, and watching him ever so closely . . . whew, i'm glad we're out of that phase.

so you're still holding 140? that's pretty darn good after all the holiday festivities. best on tackling that massive to-do-list!

Mary Rose,

So sorry to hear almost everyone got the tummy bug -- YUCK!

My Christmas was good -- went away with no dogs as the weather on Christmas Eve was rainy and it would be a lot of traveling for the dogs -- 10 hrs in a 3 day period -- 5 hrs each way -- so hubby stayed home and had a friend come and visit.

The stomach bug hit our gathering too -- my cousin's son (5 yr old) was sick on Christmas Eve and arrived Christmas day still not feeling all that great -- then on Friday his big sister and Daddy got sick.
