Hi Melissa!
I'm ready for this week's challenge. I did pretty good last week and hope to keep it up.
Here are my personal challenges:
(1) Exercise daily: 15 minutes of aerobic exercise, 15 minutes of weights, and 15 minutes of stretching/yoga
(2) Eat nothing after 7:00 in the evening.
Good luck & I'm looking forward to your keeping me on track!
With a smile,
Sue

Hi Sue,
Looks like I'm a little late at posting this, but I'm finally getting around to it. There's a crazy electrical storm outside right now, so I think I'm going to finish this up, and shut down the computer....Scary stuff..
I'm glad to have a partner with such specific goals. My goal is to complete about 45-55 minutes of some type of exercise 6 days a week. I usually take off one of the weekend days. I am going to do my new arms routine at least twice this week, maybe three if I'm not too sore (I just did it on Monday night). I basically do about the same thing each day, but I still report in with whatever I accomplish. I hope this challenge goes well for you :)
So, for today I walked/jogged on the treadmill 3 miles. That took me around 52 minutes...I follow this schedule I found on the internet for how fast I should be going, according to what week I'm on. Right now, I start at about 2.5 mph and increase to 4 mph, according to certain intervals. So, I really don't push myself any harder than the schedule says to.
Well, I'm going to head to bed and enjoy sleeping throughout the storm. Night.

Good morning, Melissa!
It sounds like you're doing really well on your exercise plan. Keep up the good work!
I flubbed up yesterday. Not only did I not exercise but I ate after 7:00 and, I ate oreo cookies!!! We're in the midst of vacation bible school at my church and the kids were snacking on oreos; I just couldn't resist!
But, good news is that this morning was weigh-in and I'm down 2.5 pounds from last week. So those couple of oreos didn't make too much of a difference!
I'm going to work harder today and make sure I get my exercise in!
Have a great day!
Sue
Hey Sue!
Don't worry about not exercising. At least you have that conscience that makes you feel bad for not exercising--shows some true dedication. Days off always feel great, too :) Plus, if you've lost 2.5 pounds in a week, then I say you should be feeling great :) That definitely sounds like more than I've lost in a week.
So far today, I have walked/jogged 2.85 miles, in about 51 minutes or so. I need to get some sort of eating plan, where I have to limit myself to like 500 calories at lunch, 300 for breakfast....that sort of thing. Hopefully I'll have that all written down on here tomorrow. I plan on doing some toning for my butt/thighs tonight, but I may end up skipping out on that. I guess you'll be hearing about that tomorrow...
Tomorrow night is my sister's birthday party. This does not sound good for my eating habits...I'll just have to be a little more cautious and eat a little less throughout the day. But I will be talking with you again soon :) Have a good night.
Hello there,
I had to push myself really hard to get some exercise in today because I'm concerned all this exercise isn't helping one bit. BUT I did manage to use the elliptical machine for 45 minutes. Then I did my arms routine again. So far, I'm keeping up with my goals for the week...So far so good :)
Remember those toning exercises I was planning on doing for my butt/thighs? Yeah, still haven't gotten around to those yet. I will one of these nights this week..I just have to get motivated enough to try something new.
Well here is my new calorie plan to try to follow:
Breakfast (10:30): 300-350 calories
Lunch (1:00): 500 calories
Snack (3:30 or 4:00): 200 calories
Supper (6 or 6:30): 500 calories
Snack (9 or 9:30): 200 calories
All in all, that is about 1700-1750 calories per day...Of course, a lot of the things I eat, I have no nutritional information for. So I usually randomly assign 200 or 300 calories to these things. It's really hard to follow this plan exactly, as I have already gotten off-track for the FIRST day, but at least it's a pretty decent guide. This way if I eat a little more than planned, I still shouldn't be gaining weight, especially with the exercising that I now do...
So there it is....any suggestions on what I might want to change at all?
Hope you had a good day. Talk to you soon.
Well, no star for me yesterday. It was the last night of VBS and they had pizza ... something I never buy for myself so, naturally, I pigged out! Plus I didn't exercise and ate a bagel at 10:00 last night. Fortunately, I cheated and got on the scale this morning and no damage was done, still 213. Whew!
Your diet plan looks great. I have a couple of questions ... why so late for breakfast? I have found that the earlier I eat breakfast, the more energy I have to exercise early in the day. Also, I'd be really careful about what you eat for your late night snack as that sits and digests ... and sticks ... while you're sleeping. That's one reason I try not to eat anything after 7:00 in the evening so most of the food I've eaten through the day has digested before I go to bed.
45 minutes on the elliptical - way to go! Keep up the good work!
HOpe you have a great weekend!
With a smile,
Sue
Well, I didn't do so good yesterday. I did exercise but ended up eating some popcorn around 9:00 last night. I stuck with my points all day and the popcorn didn't throw me over my daily points limit so I guess overall I did alright.
Tonight I'm going to a family gathering at my Mom's with all kinds of unhealthy foods. I'm taking two salads and I plan to focus my plate on those.
Sue
Hello,
Well, yesterday wasn't good AT ALL for me...I think this eating a lot less and eating healthier was finally getting to me. I had some pizza as well along with...a cupcake, laffy taffies, skittles, starbursts, chocolate....yes, overall a very bad day. I did manage to get in 4.05 miles on the treadmill. It took 78 minutes because my calves are still sore from that dang elliptical machine from the other day, so I had to go at a very very slow pace. But, at least I got in that extra exercise--I really needed it yesterday.
And today, I don't plan on doing any exercise. I am babysitting my little brother and sister and that should keep me pretty busy.
As for the questions you asked....I usually don't wake up til 10:30..otherwise I would eat earlier. For the summertime, that is pretty early for me. Compared to my 7:00 mornings for school this last spring, this is a really nice trade-off. I usually do eat carbs right before bed, but I really watch my portions at night, so maybe it's not so bad. I don't know....Maybe I need to be eating apples or yogurt or something at nighttime..
Anyways, good luck at your get-together tonight. Remember your goal :)
Melissa
Well, I didn't do too badly at the family gathering last night. I ate lots of vegetables and limited my dessert to one little piece of cake. I didn't get my exercise in though but plan to get back on track this afternoon.
Sue
Well, I did really horribly this weekend, but I'm ready to get back on track this week. I realize that all this exercise won't be good if I don't keep up with my food habits, and I didn't waste that many weeks exercising for nothing :) So I'm going to bed tonight with a good attitude.
Good job with the family gathering. You did better than I would have....
-Mel
Hey Sue...
Well, today, I ate MUCH MUCH better. I am really hungry right now and I probably shouldn't eat anything else, but I might grab something small to tide over the growling stomach.
For exercise, I walked 3 miles today. I feel good about this, since it seems like forever since I've exercised. I kept on walking despite my bleeding heel too :( It sure killed, but I somehow got through it.
Well, looks like we switch buddies tomorrow....You have been an awesome one for this past week though.
