Hi Everyone, I need to lose around 40-50 pounds!!! I plan on eating 3 meals a day, and limiting my fatty foods. I want to lose weight and not look bulky, so I am wondering...should I just focus on cardio instead of weight training??? I have a treadmill that I will do at 3-4 mph at 2-4% incline, and I also have a variety of Tae Bo tapes I will do too. My plan is to workout 5x a week until I get to where I want to be... is this good???

Remember you need to consume 5-6 small meals a day to keep your metabolism going...I suggest healthy snacks for the 2 or 3 extra meals. EX: Carrots, Broccli...any healthy veggies. Five times a week of cardio to loose the weight sounds about right to me. The main thing that has helped me the most is WATER, and nothing else. You can do it.

Most of the stuff that I have read, about doing it healthfully, is to combine aerobic with light strength training. If you don't want to bulk up, you do a lot of reps with light weights. A good book to look at is Denise Austin's "Hit the Spot." It has a lot of good exercises that target specific areas, and easy to understand directions. From what I have heard from doctors and the like, it's really good to do aerobic at least three times a week, and strength at least two. When I was at my exercising peak, I would do aerobics M-F, and strength MWF. I didn't stick with it long enough to know how the results were, but from other people who have done the same, they always say it's the best. And also like the previous poster said, WATER WATER WATER. I don't practice what I preach on that; I practically have a Coke IV in my arm. Yeah, I need to work on that!
