Hi

I'm Becki, 16 from England.

For a while I have been looking on sites to see how I can shift 7lbs without having to cook fancy meals...

I do salsa dance but this doesn't seem to be enough to help me lose any weight...

So I was wondering if anyone had any tips to help me keep of the chocolate and crisps. My main problem (to me) is that I don't know which fruits can be eaten reguraly and me not put more weight on. I would love it if I can change my chocolate habit for a fruit habit.

Another problem I am having at the moment is that when I eat my stomach rises to the point where I look pregnant... I have actually been to the doctors with this and they said it is probably extreme PMS but this doesnt just happen when I am due on my period it happens everyday without fail. This has happened when I have tryed swapping fruit for chocolate and is another reason why I don't want to eat too much fruit.

Also, do you have any simple excersises that can be done before and after college, I was thinking excersises for the stomach... I know sit-ups is one but how many and for how long?

You may think I am being a tipical teen wanting to lose weight and I probably am but I have done tests on the internet which have said I have a risk of becoming overweight at the weight I am now (132 pounds/lbs) which scares me.

Please give me as much grief as you think I need, I should be able to take it lol!!!

I just want to feel better about myself and losing 7lbs is how I want to do it or at least get a flatter stomach hehee ;)

Welcome Becki,

I would suggest drinking lots of water, that might help with the bloating.

Hi Monica,

Thankyou for your reply.

I have to admit to giving into temptation today.. I don't know why but when I got bloated it seemed to knock me and make me feel like I was doing it for nothing.

I'm determined to do this altho it seems as tho I am not... I would love a personal trainer *wouldnt we all* as I dont feel strong enough to do this but hey... i've godda be!

I will try the cardio workout defenitly and try and join a gym aswell...

Also, if you do the cardio workout, I was wondering what you did about the treadmill and stairclimber excersises... as I do not have a treadmill or a step/stairclimber... any other ways i can get the same effect of these without them?

becki xxx :)

Hi becki, salty things like chips are the hardest for me to give up but for a chocolate lover what about slim fast snack bars they are just like a chocolate bar but they have way less calories and fat Or what about caramel rice cakes they are not too bad and tend to do the trick. Try and keep your salt(sodium)intake down to combat bloating.

Hiya Julie,

Thx for you reply!

I am always reading about things like rice cakes and snack bars and there always saying that they are worse for you than they make out to be and so I am very wary of them but I will try them seen as they are being suggested!!!! As they say you cant always believe what you read.

Can I ask what foods you all eat for dinner/tea? As that is my main problem, I would rather buy my own foods that I know will help than guess what will help...

Hey Becki, welcome aboard.

I have some suggestions for you to try:

For the bloating and tummy troubles, first of all, watch your fiber. If you aren't getting enough fiber in your diet that can lead to tummy troubles. I'm not sure what is recommended for a young adult/woman, so I won't even guess, but maybe just track your fiber for a day or two (try to make it a normal/typical day, if you ever have one lol) and do some research and/or ask your doctor how much fiber you should be getting. My mom, grandma and great-grandma (yes, and now me) swear by Green Drops especially for tummy troubles. It's a very old remedy and its pretty hard to find. I don't know for sure what's in it, but basically it's a peppermint extract. We would take a teaspoon or two of sugar with the green drops on top, or sometimes mix it in with water and drink it. Because I haven't found green drops for years, I resort to peppermint candies. This seems to settle minor tummy troubles (or at least I feel better, but that could be a psychological thing :)

CHOCOLATE: MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. I love chocolate. Just so we're clear on that, I love chocolate. Especially when Aunt Flo is around. So now that I'm dieting and trying to avoid Snickers and Dove and other "bad" chocolates, I have made some changes. I picked up some lite Hershey's syrup, 2tablespoons is 50 cals, no fat. So I will have a small glass of skim milk with one tablespoon syrup (I only need 1T in an 8 ounce glass). But if you are bloated and having tummy trouble, you may want to watch the dairy products. For a snack tonight I sliced up a banana and poured 1 tablespoon choc syrup on it. MMM it was pretty good. Again, some people have issues with bananas causing tummy troubles, but you'll have to figure out what works for you or adapt things as necessary, if you like the syrup you can use it with whatever you want. I also bought some "diet" hot cocoa mix, haven't had any yet, but it only has 25 cals per cup.

So good luck, and we'll see you around the boards!

Hi again, Why would rice cakes and meal bars be bad for you? I guess if you eat too little calories of anything or too much of anything it would be bad right? but in moderation along with a healthy diet and especially if just for snacks I don't see the harm in it.

Hi Becki,

You don't need a machine to get a cardio workout.

hey monica!

I've been doing lots of brisk walking to and from college this week and I'm hoping that will be helping me. Also I have been doing excersise videos before and after college.

I've been finding it quite tough to stay off the chocolate so what I have done is bought a bar and said to myself one small piece if I really feel the need to have chocolate and that is it for the night... hopefully that will help me get used to have as little as possible.. it might sound stupid but I need something to help me lol!

I love chocolate too, but I found that "Quaker Granola Bars" the Chocolate Chip ones are really good and I've been buying them.
