Moaning and groaning from Nebraska.... (m)
I'm in a major feel-sorry-for-myself-the-wedding's-over-and-the-bills-are-pouring-in-and-I-still-can't-seem-to-find-any-spare-time-and-I'm-so-tired mood!
Whew! Glad you let me get that off my chest. I feel much better now! Thanks, Sammi
In 15 days....my son will turn 16 years old. So...I'm moaning about this! (m)
Any advice? I'm not looking forward to this.
Hi Thia d (m)
As I was watering my parched trees, I thought about you. I hope this post brings you some hope.
I agree that time flies by so quickly and it's hard to let go but you're not alone. Think of the song You Will Survive! It's not all bad him turning 16, think how he can run errands and pick up the siblings plus he can get a job and pay for those brand name items he just has to have.(lol) My teenagers have even bought me dinner a couple of times.
hang in there....hugs maria
Hang in there Sammi....It's GOTTA Get Better! n/t
Oh, Boy, and I thought I had it Bad... (m)
...Just kidding, Thia. All of my kids have passed the sixteen mark. When my oldest was learning to drive, I wouldn't let her drive anywhere without me or my husband with her. When she got her license, I asked her to run downtown for me, which was a first, she simply looked at me and asked, "Okay, who are you and what did you do with my mother?"
I think Maria is right, we all have to learn to let go sometime. I had a really tough time, and still am, letting my son grow up. My thoughts are with you, and look at the bright side, you do have someone to help you with the errands! Take care, Sammi
Sammi, we're thinking of you!!!! (nt)
I'm sure it's hard (m)
but since I don't have any kids I'm at a loss for advice here. But hang in there. I'm sure it's not as bad as it seems!

Hey thia, you will survive--LOL(m)
When my son was 16, he blossomed with the family curse--depression (and I'm talking major depression with suicidal thoughts here). It scared me to death. But we went on long walks (boys seems to open up and talk on walks, I just read that this has to do with the way their brains work), and we talked about the fact that depression is treatable and does end! I laid down a few simple ground rules -- the main one being TALK TO ME, SON, and did what I could to keep the lines of communication open -- trite but true. When he did stupid things out of anger and got into trouble for it, I stood by him but insisted he take responsibility for his actions.
There were times I seriously wondered if we'd make it, but he is thirty now, with a nine year old son of his own, and it warms my heart to see them together. Looking at him now, I know it was worth all the struggles we went through. So will you.
Big hugs,
Linda

Hey Sammi, just remember (m)
that in a relatively short time, oh, a decade or so, you'll look back on all of this with fond nostalgia. Meanwhile, keep yer pecker up.
