My five...

1. Do you play a musical instrument? If not, which one would you like to play?

Actually, I play piano, sax and clarinet. At one point I played bassoon, but I doubt I could replicate the experience (hee hee). I also sing in a choir and I am trying to learn the recorder (it's harder than you think!).

2. If you won a million dollars in a lottery, what would you do with it?

This is a easy one. How many times have I planned this in my head? I'd pay off my house and credit cards, my mom's house and credit cards and buy my mother-in-law a new car. Then I'd put whatever was left into a moderate-to-low risk investment so I could use it when I retire. Then I could use the money I'm saving from all of those bills to try to start my own adventure travel business: Compass Sun Travel!

3. When did you go to your first concert and who did you see?

My very first concert in the audience was the Beach Boys when they came to the state fair when I was like 10. But my real first was when I worked the KD Lang concert at the hall in college. THAT was an experience!

4. Which shade of lipstick is your favorite or do you prefer lip balm?

I'm a lip balm girl. Especially when it is like SPF15 - I hate chapped lips, and it happens a lot when you hike!

5. In what way has writing changed your life (either for the better or worse)?

I can't really say that is has changed my life. I never really had a life without it. I've been writing since I could talk (only then it was making up stories!)...

Here's mine (m)

1. Do you play a musical instrument? If not, which one would you like to play?

No, but I wished I did. I’d love to play the violin.

2. If you won a million dollars in a lottery, what would you do with it?

First, I’m going to pretend that paying tax on the million doesn’t exist-LOL. Then, I’d put $300,000 into a fund that I’d use for trips that I want to go on. With the remaining money, I’d set up two foundations. 1) for some type of animal shelter or something to help animals and 2) a summer camp program for underprivileged kids that promotes the skill of writing.

3. When did you go to your first concert and who did you see?

I can’t recall the exact year but I was either in 7th or 8th grade and I went to Barry Manilow and no, I’m not still of fan-LOL.

4. Which shade of lipstick is your favorite or do you prefer lip balm?

I wear browns mostly, right now it’s Maplesugar.

5. In what way has writing changed your life (either for the better or worse)?

Writing has helped me in so many ways it’s hard to narrow down in what way it’s helped the most. First, I’d say it’s given me a creative outlet which I desperately need. I get unhappy if I'm not being creative. And, most importantly, it’s given me an opportunity to meet some wonderful friends like y’all!!!!

my 5

1. Do you play a musical instrument? If not, which one would you like to play? I used to play flute, lost my lip, and now play recorder, mostly treble, tho I'm trying to learn alto (same fingerings for different notes). I'd really like to learn viola or cello. And I really, really, wish I could sing.

2. If you won a million dollars in a lottery, what would you do with it? I'd like to think I'd give most of it away but I'm sure I'd squander some of it on some sort of immediate self-gratification (like a chocolate mountain topped with nude men).

3. When did you go to your first concert and who did you see? Can't remember. I had a highly cultured upbringing so I remember being taken out to orchestral concerts when I was very young, and enjoying them, tho I can't remember what was played.

4. Which shade of lipstick is your favorite or do you prefer lip balm? I used to have a wonderful very expensive French lipstick which made me look hard and slutty (yes!!! yes!!!) and I've been trying to find a cheaper alternative ever since. Usually I use a sort of bronze color or lip balm.

5. In what way has writing changed your life (either for the better or worse)? Well I do have a social life now ... I've made a lot of new friends thru writing. I don't feel compelled to finish bad library books, I'm a lot happier. But, I don't get enough sleep and I don't spend enough time with my family or doing stuff in the house (which I hate anyway) and garden (which I enjoyed).

1. Do you play a musical instrument? If not, which one would you like to play?

Yes - piano. I used to play Alto Sax in high school, too.

2. If you won a million dollars in a lottery, what would you do with it?

Oh gosh.. GET OUT OF DEBT! That's #1.

3. When did you go to your first concert and who did you see?

I saw Aerosmith, front row center. It was about 10 years ago.

4. Which shade of lipstick is your favorite or do you prefer lip balm?

My favorite is one called "Crush". It's a dark red. I love it.

5. In what way has writing changed your life (either for the better or worse)?

Writing has given me an outlet to explore thoughts and feelings I probably wouldn't otherwise.

I love these . . .

1. Do you play a musical instrument? If not, which one would you like to play?

I taught myself a little piano, but wish I could play more.

2. If you won a million dollars in a lottery, what would you do with it?

(1) Pay off my bills. (2) Fix my parent's house. (3) Give a really good gift (redecorate their new home, new car?) to my best friend and her husband because they have been so wonderful to me and let me mooch off them. (4) Sock a lot of the money away. (5) Buy myself a house? Travel? I don't about the rest of it, but I would find something to do with it.

3. When did you go to your first concert and who did you see?

The only real concert of a major entertainer would have been in 1992. Sawyer Brown. I have never been to another. OMG, I need to get out of this life!

4. Which shade of lipstick is your favorite or do you prefer lip balm?

Mauvy. All of my lipsticks are some shade of mauve or Sheerberry by CoverGirl. The Mauvy lipstick that I use has witch hazel in it and works like a lip balm as well. It makes my lips tingle some times. Wish I had a guy to do that.

5. In what way has writing changed your life (either for the better or worse)?

I think it has expanded my horizons and taught me some things about myself. I have met all you wonderful ladies on these boards and enjoy our conversations together in chat. I appreciate even badly written books now. I have also discovered a very well written book. "Garden of Evil" by Edna Buchanon. WOW! Wonderful plotting. Goes from bad to worse and worse and worse. I was worn out when I finished reading it.

My answers:

1. Do you play a musical instrument? If not, which one would you like to play? No. I would like to play the guitar.

2. If you won a million dollars in a lottery, what would you do with it? Divorce my husband and move to Key West, FL. Also put money back for my children's future.

3. When did you go to your first concert and who did you see? I was 16 and it was Willie Nelson. (I have no idea why I went?)

4. Which shade of lipstick is your favorite or do you prefer lip balm? coffee

5. In what way has writing changed your life (either for the better or worse)? Writing is a hobby for me. I enjoy sharing my thoughts and feeling with you all. It helps me keep my mind off real life issues. The down side...I spend alot of time on the computer instead of with my children and family.

Ground Hog Friday-Five...(m)

1. Do you play a musical instrument? No If not, which one would you like to play? I invision myself like the Bill Murray character from the movie "Groundhog Day" where I learn to play the piano, very well, in one day. (You would have to have seen the movie to appreciate this.)

2. If you won a million dollars in a lottery, what would you do with it? Give ten per cent away, save ten per cent for mine and hubby's future, and invest the other eighty per cent for my children, and their children, and their children...

3. When did you go to your first concert and who did you see? I believe it was Dusty Springfield, plus many more, back in the late sixties. Dick Clark's Caravan of Stars made a stop in Hastings that summer. My mother dug around until she found enough money for my four sisters, my brother and myself could go. (I was just a little kid, but I still remember it.)

4. Which shade of lipstick is your favorite or do you prefer lip balm? I use a medium shade of pink, usually Blistik with color.

5. In what way has writing changed your life (either for the better or worse)? I've made friends here on the boards that I wouldn't have made if it weren't for my struggles with writing.

Well, everybody needs to spend (m)

time doing things they enjoy. So don't feel bad about the time you spend writing. I'm sure your family will survive!

Hugs,

Mac

Hi five

1) No, I don't play an instrument but I wouldn't mind learning how to play the piano, guitar or banjo

2)If I won the lottery I would spend, spend, save and give the money away

3) My first concert I attended was and this is if, and thats a big if I remember right, a date took me to see Willie Nelson

4)lip balm

5) Writing has enriched my life. It has given me a chance to explore my creative side and it has helped as a distraction from some really big changes in my life. Also I have made some really COOL friends.

On the downside, I would have to admit, that I have put on weight, cause I sit on my duff and drink lots of Pepsi instead of exercising.
