Need SYMPATHY here, so lay it on thick please.(m)

Well I heard from the agent (a very nice rejection) about the short story collection/novella. She thinks its a wonderful body of work, full of a grace and poignance she's rarely encoutered. But she thinks it would be tough for her to sell.

Waaaaaahhh! I understand. My work is neither literary nor genre, so it would be hard to sell. But I do feel very encouraged by her kind words. So, I'm going to query small publishers on my own and see what happens. I'm not discouraged girls, but I must admit I'm a little disappointed.

And to top it off, my mouse went phooey on me the other day (which is why I haven't been around). But never fear, I got a new one tonight and no longer have to hold the old one in my hand and stroke its little belly button to get it to work for a few seconds at a time. Life is good.

Hugs,

Linda

Thanks maria, but I don't blame her.(m)

The big publishers that agents submit to are notorious for not wanting to take a chance on anything that they can't categorize as literary or a well defined (read moneymaking) genre. I'm not discouraged.

I can't remember which writer said this but...

I read, in an anthology of writers talking about their writing experiences, (can't remember his name) said that you are a true writer after your 101st rejection. He had a piece of work that was accepted and he was upset because he had not reached that 101st rejection. What a weirdo, right? Also, Stephen King had all his rejections (quite a bit before 'Carrie') tacked onto his wall. I can't wait to get my first rejection. Yeah Right! Don't give up! Someone will pick it up, maybe after 101 submissions or maybe the next time. You deserve it. Congratulations on taking the first step and the wonderful comments recieved.
