How about a ROLLCALL? We haven't (m)

done this in a while, and we have some new member we'd love to get acquainted with. Just take a minute to introduce yourselves and tell us a little bit about you, your hopes, your fantasies about writing or anything else you'd like to share with us.

Since I'm here, LOL, I'll start.(m)

I'm 61, divorced, with a son, stepson, grandson, stepgrandson, and two little girls (my grandson's stepsisters)who have adopted me as a surrogate grandma. (I just went shopping yesterday for toys for all of them -- LOL.) I've been writing seriously for about six years and have been roaming the ivillage writing boards for about five years.

My writing fantasy is to sweep onto the Oprah set and wow them with my latest short story collection. Of course I'd settle for good reviews in the Sprinfield News Leader. (Okay, okay. I know I'm easy, but ...)

And I love working with all the great writing friends here at Short Story Basics and the other ivillage writing boards.

Hello. I'm Anita. (m)

I'm a 29 year old Navy wife. It's the toughest job in the Navy. hehehe Actually, I used to be a personal banker before I decided to be a stay at home mommy. I have two beautiful daughters, ages 6 and 1.

I have enjoyed reading and writing ever since I can remember. I tried to get serious about writing last year, but there just wasn't enough time in the day. Right now, my aspirations are to work on and improve my writing. Long term aspirations include being good enough to be published, one way or another. lol

I have fun lurking around the SSB, reading your wonderful stories and getting to know each of you.

Speaking of toys (m)

Have you seen those dogs that dance to Who Let The Dogs Out? I bought the Rottweiler one for my niece last night and I love it. I think I'm going to go back and get me and my husband one. LOL!

Hi, I'm Mac (m)

I'm a 34 year old wife and mother of four (two dogs & two cats). My husband and I own a small finance company.

Right now, I'm feeling down on my writing and fear that I'll never get good enough to be published. But I'm going to keep trying. I enjoy writing and it's been a helpful, creative outlet for me and has given me a great opportunity to become friends with all of your wonderful writers!!!

Michelle here

I'm 29 years old, mommy to 3 month old Matthew and wife to a wonderfully support DH, Jim. We also have 2 dogs and a hilarious cat - she's spunky and quite active for a 9 year old. LOL I work full time for an architectural/engineering firm. I wrote in high school (flunked Algebra and Chemistry!) and then stopped. Now I'm back to writing when I can steal a moment. I do fantasy (it seems to be my calling for some reason) and my short story "The Soul of Sharah" will be published in the February 2002 issue of Dark Moon Rising, an online sci-fi/fantasy 'zine. I'm so pumped about it. It's my first "official" published work. Next I'm going to get really brave and submit to a "real" magazine. LOL

I generally lurk here on the SSB board, but I'm trying to get into doing the assignments too. It's tough, though, as I don't have a lot of time to spare to write these days, especially with the boy. :-)

...stepping up to the plate

My name's Ramona. I'm 29 and have been living in western KY for about 2 years now with my boyfriend. (I'm originally from the L.A. area, but I was living in San Francisco prior to moving out to KY. Talk about culture shock.) I'm an attorney, but I'm still looking for a job.

I've always been a pretty voracious reader, and I often tinker with the notion of writing, but I rarely get anything down on paper. And if I do ever get anything down I rarely finish it. But it is nice to break away from formal legal writing (which is about as unnaturally stilted as can be).

elailah here (m)

full of Chinese food and listening to Mozart. Life is good apart from the infestation of flies in the living room. As well as the flies I share my life with a daughter who's a senior in high school, a husband who bought the Chinese food, a rabbit and a cat. The rabbit bought me a very nice amber necklace a few years ago, but the cat isn't much good for anything except her name which I borrow for ivillage.

I'm writing two novels. When they get problematic I write short stories. When they get problematic I spend too much time at this board. When I get bored with that, I swat flies.
