How about a ROLLCALL? We haven't (m)
done this in a while, and we have some new member we'd love to get acquainted with. Just take a minute to introduce yourselves and tell us a little bit about you, your hopes, your fantasies about writing or anything else you'd like to share with us.

Hi, I'm Maria, I'm pretty sure that I'm over 21, okay, 20 years over, whoa that makes me 41, bummer (LOL)
I'm married to a dairyfarmer. He has a wonderful sense of humor and he helps me take care of my 20 head of beef cows. We have five children, the oldest is 19, the youngest is 11.
Back in the eighties, I had two of my stories published in a magazine and then my skills became rusty while I raised our children.
I stumbled upon ivillage and found that I still enjoyed writing and with the help, encouragement, and patience of the writers, especially on this board, I'm making progress, getting back into the groove.
Writing for me is a challenge, creative oulet and somewhat of a hobby but I wouldn't protest if one of my stories became a best seller and then was made into a movie!
I have a confession to make, I don't use the word ya, very often and our horse died so we now use four wheelers!!!
I really enjoy this board

Ill-tempered, standards-crazy, foul-mouthed, opinionated web-designer by day. Wanna-be writer by night. Oh, and a dad in there somewhere, too. Generally right up there at the top of the list, when I'm thinking my kids (age 4 and 2) are more mature then the people I work with. :) Hopefully, pretty soon my job title will switch from Web Designer to Technical Writer. But then again, it's just as likely to change again a week after that. Goodness, the IT industry is fun. *grin*
I'm mostly just a lurker here. Been doing the exercises in the Writing Exercise Board. Recently started working on a story based off of recent posts of mine there.
ROFL, must have missed those.(nt

You never know until(m)
you try, mac. Start with some small contests and work up. Is there a local writing guild or group that has conferences or contests? That's a good way to get your feet wet. (I won my first contest at a Sp. WG conference and sold the winner for $10 to a chap book the next month.) So it's a good place to start.
Hugs,
Linda

Welcome Ramona, how about starting with(m)
one of our Tiny Tuesday exercises, and working up to the monthly exercise? (We'd be thrilled to have you try either one or both.) You'll find we give friendly and helpful feedback here because we're all trying to learn together. And good luck with your job search. (Hope the culture shock wasn't too bad--heheheh.)
