How about a ROLLCALL? We haven't (m)

done this in a while, and we have some new member we'd love to get acquainted with. Just take a minute to introduce yourselves and tell us a little bit about you, your hopes, your fantasies about writing or anything else you'd like to share with us.

I'm Eyewrite, and I just found this board today (m)

I'm older than 20 and less than 100. Like Anita, I have enjoyed reading and writing ever since I can remember.

I'm trying to get my children's picture book stories published and I know that it takes great perserverence. So I've started a collection of rejection letters. They mean that I'm out there and trying.

I've been a chemist making rechargeable batteries, a fitness instructor, a sandwich maker... but currently I'm a technical writer and aspiring children's picture book author. I've been dabbling in short stories recently. Writing for adults is a break from writing for kids!

I hope to be posting more here soon. I think I'll try that exercise higher up on the board.

Bye for now, Eyewrite

Hi Eyewrite...(m)

Congratulations on your collection of rejection letters! I will probably never have the courage to submit anything. I absolutely love children's books. I definitely read more of them than adult books, 30 a month compared to about 2 a month. My daughter's favorite book is Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin Jr. and John Archambault.

I look forward to reading some of your writing. ~Anita

Thank you. It's a small collection presently, however (m)

It'll be growing shortly. I plan to get two more stories "out there" to publishers before Christmas. Gasp! I'd better get a move on.

How old is your daughter and what sorts of things does she like in a book? Rhyme? Silliness? Suprise? Funky drawings? (we all love those :)

Looking forward to getting to know you. Have a great day, Eyewrite

Well, when you hear that some published authors had (m)

up to 100 rejections, you can't let a few get you down.

What kind of work are you trying to get published? A novel or perhaps a collection of short stories?

Looking forward to getting to read your work.

Have a great day, Eyewrite

Hi eyewrite...

Congrats on getting your stories out there.

My daughter is six and she loves silly stories, mostly with rhyme or just a nice rhythm. Colorful pictures are a must with her.

Have a good night! ~anita
