WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Is Sen. John McCain too old to be president? Listen to some Democrats, and you'll think the 71-year-old Arizona senator is a man lost in a perpetual fog. He is "confused" and has "lost his bearings" or is "out of touch."

Too bad the phrase has already been used!!!

Ummm, if he wasn't going to exploit it then why did he bring it up or was he being sarcastic? I don't think age should be a factor here.

It was because Regan's age (vs. Mondale's) WAS being brought up, and he put an end to it right there with that quip. It was said in defense, and it put the age question to rest.

I agree, I don't think age should be a factor here either. I don't see a 70-something year old when I look at McCain. I really think of him more as my father's generation than my grandfather's. Similarly, I don't see Obama's youth as a factor either (experience or lack thereof, maybe, but not his age.)

By all means let McCain quote the guy who started feeling the effects of Alzheimers while in office.....

Probably not a great campaign strategy.

Why on earth is it low to mention a medical condition a president had, WHILE IN OFFICE that negatively affected his ability to do his job? I'm not judging his character, I'm saying he was ill, and ill in a way that affected his ability to be president. I think it a really really dumb idea for McCain to do anything that would remind folks of the fact that they guy next younger than him in the job became ill from something that disproportionally affects older people.

Alzheimers runs in my family I know only too well exactly how it can affect ones faculties.

The comment about Reagan was a smart-a&& comment and you know it. It has nothing to do with bias on MY side. Your side? Yes.
