Does marital status affect the issues a person believes is important?

Hmmm...this one is actually a bit more grey for me only because I've spent *most* of my adult life married. I was very very liberal when I was single, but maybe that was more age than marital status??

What people want is to keep the money that they have earned and decide how they can use it for themselves.....and their families if they have one.

I don't know if it's age or marital status for me.

Not for me. I'm from a family of flaming liberals, and my mother and I both got arrested for some anti-nuke protest in the late 70s.

Now that I have kids of my own, I'm still to the socially to left of most of my acquaintances. But as a thrifty Scot, I've always been a fiscal conservative in personal and public financial policy. Deficits are usually bad, IMO.

I have always leaned to the conservative side of things.

Ok, how do you figure that? Even "singles" got stimulus checks. So you don't think Liberals have values and morals? It gets very tiresome when Conservatives have that attitude about Liberals.

Could it be that between your wages you are both in different income brackets? I know this to be true because when my DH and I both worked, I was only in the 15% bracket and he was in the 28% bracket. We STILL didn't make anywhere near 100,000 betwen us. Actually at the time we also were able to claim a lot more deductions on things, but still had to pay back to the government-- YES even with Bush's tax cuts, whch actualy didn't amout to much at all for us, but was just enough to put us into another bracket by about 600.00!

I was not bashing the morals and values of liberals, at all.

Well, I will agree with you on this "marriage penalty tax" I also think it stinks.

I am very much against abortion, so that tends to take my vote from Democrats.
