"Victory" in Iraq according to McCain

McCain lashed out at Obama for not talking about victory in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

"I noticed during our debate that even as American troops are fighting on two fronts, Barack Obama couldn't bring himself to use the word "victory" even once," McCain in his remarks to the sportsmen group.

Yet General Petraeus shares a very different view from McCain (even though McCain mentioned Petraeus over and over in the debate).

Petraeus adopted a cautious tone in his interview with BBC's Newsnight, saying he did not know that he would ever use the word "victory".

"This is not the sort of struggle where you take a hill, plant the flag and go home to a victory parade," he said. "It's not war with a simple slogan."

I agree you made a good point . From what I have heard must people dont see Iraq as being a victory. I sure dont . I feel we are worse off then we were before.

I always thought that Victory was when the other side surrenders. I thought that is how you win. I would like to know McCain's idea of Victory is. How he interperates Victory.

I have been asking this question for years now - we won't get out until we can define 'victory' and we won't have victory until we can define it. No one seems to agree on a definition. Sadly there will probably come a time, in the not to distant future, when Iraq tells us to leave and doesn't want to wait for us to have our 'victory' what will we do then?

why lie about Patreus? He agrees we have to continue the mission, why do Democrats feel like lying will make a better case than the truth? I talk to the soldiers and they want to stay the course and finish the mission that is why they are not supporting Obama....

Obama is very far left and out of touch with the troops and the family of the dead soldier asked him to STOP wearing that bracelet of the deceased soldier as he would not want to be underminded as a political tool...

you can read the story!

OBAMA IS NOT A MUSLIM AND STATED HE WOULD STAND WITH AMERICAN CITIZENS IF THE TIDE OF OPPRESSION TURNED AGAINST THEM UNJUSTLY.

My husband made it a point to explain to our daughters that Iraqis are "just like us, they want the same things, they have children just like you and want them to grow up in a better world".

"Obama does not want to leave Iraq until 2010 and then only limited, he also wants 4 times the troops in Afganistan and also he wants to go to war with Pakistan, you need to watch the debate again and not be so close minded and listen to what he said! He talked more Republican than McCain!"
