Why the difference - Biden/Palin

Ok so Biden has said some stupid things over the course of time as has Palin. Why is Palin considered "stupid"? Does anyone else see a double standard or is it just me?

I don't see a double standard here. Yes, Biden has said some really stupid things. And I think in some cases, he's been misunderstood. Yet, none of these comments have belied an ignorance of the issues. I've listened to Biden make countless speeches on the Senate floor and in committee hearings. I think he's probably one of the smartest guys in Congress today. A smart guy who occasionally says stupid things.
Palin's gaffes have been embarrassing in that she seems not to have a grasp of the issues needed to be an effective vice president or president. I don't know if she's nervous or doesn't know enough. It's hard to tell in these interviews. I don't understand half of what she's saying because of her speaking style.
Recent interviews have shown a very different Palin from the one who was introduced to us last month. I thought her speech at the RNC and her introduction speech were fantastic. Really, really good. Light on the details, but heck, that's not what those speeches were for.
I am genuinely interested in what she thinks about the issues facing our country. And I can't figure it out based on the interviews she has given over the last two weeks. I'm not at all happy that she's been sheltered from the press. I find it downright insulting that she wants us to believe she has foreign policy experience because of Alaska's proximity to Russia. Do they think the American public is stupid?
If she performs well tonight, we'll know that she has been nervous. She's allowed some jitters. If she doesn't perform well tonight, we still won't know, will we?

>>I thought the absentince only thing had been debunked?
She certainly supported abstinence-only sex ed when she ran for governor.

/snip: "Palin said when running for governor in 2006 that she would support funding for abstinence-only education in schools, according to Eagle Forum Alaska, a conservative group that sent a questionnaire asking gubernatorial candidates their views on a range of issues."
(I looked for the original document, but it has been taken off the Web site.)
There seems to be some question about her changing her mind on this issue, but she was very clear in 2006.

I disagree with you, but I'm pretty sure
She doesn't support "explicit" sex-ed, but she is not for abstinence ONLY eduction.
"I'm pro-contraception, and I think kids who may not hear about it at home should hear about it in other avenues," she said during a debate in Juneau. from the article linked below.
From the same article - Palin spokeswoman Maria Comella said the governor stands by her 2006 statement, supporting sex education that covers both abstinence and contraception.
I think that Palin has not been more explicit in correcting this widely reported fallacy because her view does not coincide with McCain who DOES support abstinence only education.

Maybe she's changed her mind on these? The quote that you provided says something very different from the quote others provided from the conservative organization's questionnaire.
I think you have a good theory about her not sharing her opinion because it differs from McCain's.
