Maybe he needs to look at Obama's plan.

I am for some Universal Healthcare as a solution to our country's healthcare crisis.

Shrug, how do you suppose our nation might afford it, what with that promise of Obama's that we'll be getting tax CUTS versus hikes?

I am not necessarily "for" universal health care...

I certainly don't want my Dh's Healthcare through his employer taxed, it truly stinks as it is! Are you even aware, if your employer pays say 12,000 a year for your health ins, you will be paying TAX on an extra 1,000 a month? Your co-pay won't be taking out pre-tax, it will come out AFTER TAX. Did you know that?

I didn't say you yourself supported Obama's plan, or not.

So, instead, it will be taxed to me directly, is what you're saying?

Which is precisely why nobody is suggesting universal health care as an option at this time.

I think we should have universal healthcare.

Most of us would agree that it is the government's responsibility to keep us safe. To me, healthcare falls under this umbrella. I get why it's not acceptable for terrorists to attack the US and kill citizens - so the government makes military a priority. What I *don't* get is how US citizens dying from treatable or curable diseases because they can't afford healthcare is ok. If the gov't should keep us safe, I feel like it should keep us safe, period. Because of this, I believe healthcare spending should be just as much of a priority as defense spending. I

s it worse to die at the hands of a terrorist or at the hands of a disease that is curable but you can't afford the cure. To me, what's the difference, you're dead either way. What boggles my mind is that there is SO much outrage directed at terrorists (understandably) but next to none directed at insurance agencies who won't insure people who need care. If a terrorist is threatening US citizens, I don't believe that the government would withhold assistance if they couldn't pay. That's just ludicrous. I feel the same should be true of protecting citizens against disease. Just my opinion.
