"If either John McCain or Sarah Palin or another prominent Republican or prominent conservative had been at a party, basically in honor of somebody who is a terror apologist, at which terrorists were front and center in attendance, one can't even imagine the thought that the mainstream media, including the LA Times, would not only release that tape but actually fill us for days if not weeks with story after story about the gory details of it," McCarthy contends.

Do you not see how odd this sounds.
<<Obama didn't get up and leave because it wasn't a surprise to him and isn't offensive to him.>>
-or because he he mature and has the ability to hear things he disagrees with without storming off like a child. someone interesting in building bridges needs to be willing to hear all sides of the story

So if you go to an event and the speeches and jokes and poems are all racist and people are calling black people the 'n' word and spewing hate it's okay to stay and listen because by sitting and listening we're building a bridge and we need to hear both sides of the story? Sorry, I think listening to the spewing of hate doesn't build bridges.
<<-or the fact they the la times said they wouldnt release the tape prior to even seeing it. for all we know, mccain could have handed over the tape, but doesnt want anyone to see it because he hands khalidi big old check at the end ;)>>

We don't know word for word exactly what was said but we have an idea if we read the LA Times article that was written about the party. Seeing the tape would tell us much more of course.

If Palestinians cannot secure their own land, she said, "then you will never see a day of peace."

-yes. because to truly mend wounds you need to understand why one group of people feels the way they do. trying to resolve conflict without this knowledge is futile, imo. it is a wonderfull skill to have, being able to listen to others spew hate, while being able to maintain your own objectivity
