This is part of an email DH received from a fellow soldier he served with in Iraq. It explains perfectly why DH and I both support Obama.

In 2004 I didn’t understand the significance of politics, and the impact that an election could have.

Every time my SO has a new doctor's appointment or gets a new prescription medicine for a newly discovered problem, there's this unspoken resentment and this nagging feeling of "this was all for nothing." I know there are people that feel like the Iraq War has merit, but I know far too many people who have been there and fought in it and put their lives on hold, including my SO, that would beg to differ.

Also, it's amazing to me how much help we have needed in order to secure the benefits my SO was promised when he joined the Army. Now, as a veteran, he had to actually work for months to just get what was promised to him. How insulting! And the people who helped get him those benefits? Our local House Representative, who is a Democrat, and Barack Obama.

That is truly sad. I hope he doesn't get sent back to Iraq. Also, let's not forget the taxpayers who could've gotten better government services with the money being wasted in Iraq, and how our future taxes will be so much higher because of Bush's brashness.

And let's not forget the victims of 9/11 whose murders have gone wholly unavenged because Bush had to do something "big" in Iraq, rather than get Osama bin Laden.
