This has got to be one of the most horrid teachers I've ever seen. This clip is from a documentary that was aired in Sweden last night. I feel so sorry for that poor little girl. I hope her mom sees this and that this teacher is fired.

I certainly don't agree with what she did!

I'm an Obama supporter and I agree that what the teacher did was wrong, and its sad that she couldn't see what she was doing. Its one thing for teachers to talk about the political process and let students learn about issues in an age-appropriate way, but teachers should not try to bias students one way or another or make them feel belittled for their or their family's choices.

Apparently the documentary was something called "Bill to Barack" and followed several people who were in the news back in 1992 and followed them to this election.

Hi Tammy,

My DH teaches high school Biology, and this is the reason why he refuses to tell his students who he votes for.

I don't feel like watching cruelty to a child, and I've read the other responses, so I'll take your word for the problem.

That said, no, I don't think one bad teacher is any compelling reason to homeschool your children.

We can only be said to be alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures.

I'm sorry that my subject title was so inflammatory, but when I saw that video it just got me so upset. Please thank your DH for me. If only every teacher was like him. I have a very good friend that is a teacher, and her and I get into heated debate sometimes. She is also an Obama supporter. I guess I just had too many bad experiences myself. I had great teachers and horrible teachers when I was in school. I just think that kids get bullied enough by their peers, and to get bullied by your teacher too is just too horrible. From what I read, this is 5th grade. I couldn't imagine one of my girls being treated that way.

I think it's unfair to "throw the baby out with the bath water." One bad teacher doesn't make all of them bad and thus give you a reason to do away with public education. I feel sorry for the little girl just so you know.

This "teacher" is clearly an idiot. However, it doesn't mean that home-schooling is better than public schooling. Parents can browbeat as well as any teacher.
