I remember having a conversation with a girl in my dorm room just before the 2004 election. She was a young evangelical who was shocked that I would even ask who she was voting for -- of course she was picking Bush! It was abortion that sold her on that choice. This year, she voted for Obama. I can't tell you how shocked I was to hear that.
I definitely think that when we focus on the issues that people are more likely to agree on, rather than the divisive issues, such as abortion and gay rights, it's easier to see that we're more alike than different. Thanks for posting this article.
